He's right.

We need to get our own house in order before we galavant all over the globe telling others how to act.

For years I've been amazed that the students haven't figured out that these schools are ripping them off and hindering their futures, which would be a reasonable thing to protest about. Due to federally backed student loans, education costs are out of control and it hurts these students.

These federal backed students loans are now screwing the tax payers due to FJBs loan forgiveness.

Taxpayers indirectly are responsible. We as a society decided about 30 years ago that we would accept cuts to higher education funding. The universities decided to make up the shortfall by expanding their financial aid offices and of course banks and the federal government helped to encourage it. As such you saw an explosion of student loans which drove up the price of tuition.

I remember in the mid and late 80's tuition for LSU was right under $900.00 for fulltime and the additional fees we were minimal. I could work a job from mid May to mid August and I could make more than enough to pay the load. No way you can do it today.

It was not taxpayers reducing funding to the universities. It was the obama administration guaranteeing the loans. Suddenly universities could increase prices through the moon and still not be able to keep up with demand by people who never should have been admitted to a university in the first place.

Im with you though Kiwi. When I was at Auburn they doubled the tuition.....from 220 to 440 per quarter (dang we are old).

The full time semester cost even until 1995 had not risen that much. I think my youngest brother for his last year paid right under 1K for tuition and fees for each semester. He worked as a waiter at Mansurs, he could sometimes make tuition in 2 weeks.....fricker!!! :)

The trashiness of his language is an indictment on the education and moral decay of our society.

Sad!

Pretty sure DEI is a scheme to force normal people to pay for the education of radicals and communists.

Its working.

I believe the problem is twofold.

First, they greatly expanded the curriculums in higher education. Creating courses and degree plans to serve little to no purpose to humanity. Most of this expanded teaching is seemingly geared toward indoctrinating young, impressionable minds.

Secondly, they made college a country club experience and dramatically increased the pay scale for professors and administrators.

The overall cost went through the roof while the benefit collapsed.

The second someone starts a real movement protesting our economy, they'll be in jail for child pornography quicker than you can blink an eye.

Other way around. Because the universities could get more money via the student loan grift, then they started with vacation type stuff. There were always liberal arts curriculums available....it's just that leftists tended to be attracted to those fields.

Not defending the young people protesting in college, but they are expressing their opinions based on they've been taught in the school system. This issue will only worsen unless America takes back control of the educational system from the Marxist.
One of Obama's idols Bill Ayers wrote that one of the most important steps in overcoming American traditional values was by taking over the educational system. Begin changing the way in which our youth view America.
