re: Traveling by Train

Posted by NOLALGD on 6/6/24 at 12:53 pm
If you have the time built into your trip and can afford the sleeper car traveling by train is a good experience, and if done right a significant improvement over a long distance driving trip. Obviously flying is faster and an option for a lot of people, but there are a lot of complaints on this bo...
The setting of the stories, or universe or however they call it, was interesting with factions and all that. The story itself was weak and, to me, a blatant attempt to get tween girls into it.
Agree, the concept is solid and the politics/social manipulation of factions worked ...

What were your HS or college basketball stats?...
I think I’m averaging a 25 point triple double at 6’3 190
Weren't you a really good HS or college player, so yeah I could see. A lot men could, but 99.9% of them played high level basketball and aren't just former baseball players or weekend athlete dudes....
I generally agree that a really, really good HS boys BB team could beat a WNBA team. But...... No one in this thread under 6-6 who didn't play very high level HS ball or some of level of college ball could make an WNBA team. There are a lot of men with better physical metrics than some WNBA play...

re: 10 Year Anniversary Trip Destinations

You've had some fun anniversary trips! Amalfi Coast is an interesting idea, I wonder if that satisfies the OPs desire for a tropical location. Will add 10K-15K can probably get you a decent trip to the South Pacific, but Hawaii is easier travel and doable in a 7 day trip....
It’s how humans lived for millennia. Only in America in the last 70 or so years has living with or near extended family been made to be something negative.
I agree with you generally, and this living pattern is still the case in most of the world. That said, America was built in p...
Some won't agree, but for a 10K-15K budget for 6-7 days, assuming you shop around, that will get you a super high end Carribean trip, especially in Mexico, Costa Rica, DR, etc. I would seriously look at Hawaii for that budget. ...
Despite recent app issues, still the simplest solution for a home system that everyone in the house (husband, wife, kids, grandparents, visitors) can use without messing something up. That said if I was a single and living alone with some extra disposal income, I would do something else. But th...

re: TSA PreCheck KTN

PreCheck is great for anyone that flies more than 1 or 2 times a year. I have Clear through a credit card, but its expensive and in my opinion not sure its worth the cost unless you are traveling almost monthly or more frequently, and sometimes have trips/flights where you can't always get to the a...

re: Transportation from MSY to the CBD

Posted by NOLALGD on 5/28/24 at 6:53 pm
There is a public but (RTA Airport Express) that runs from the terminal directly to the CBD. The bus is safe, clean, cost $1.25 and takes 25-30 minutes with no traffic. At peak times the bus has to deal with interstate traffic like everyone else so it takes longer. [link=(https://www.norta.com...

2nd using Chackbay mix. For a normal boil in a 100 qt I will add 1 cylinder of salt with the first batch, maybe 1/2 max for the second, and none for additional batches, just more Chackbay. But I've done a batch in an 80 qt with no added salt and turned out pretty decent....
Depends on the location. A crappy hotel gym in NYC the size of room, will just go for a 15-20 minute walk in the morning and get a bagel. Most AI's in the Carribean have decent gyms, some are actually amazing facilities. When there workout maybe every other day, usual routine is up for sunris...

Since you said he has been to the City many times and doesn't need the full experience I would stay somewhere near a 4 train stop, its an express with a Yankee Station stop. I don't have any specific recommendations but look near Union Square Station or Grand Central Station. Even staying near Batte...

The subway is safe and fine anywhere in the City, just about any time of day or night. Only time I would be extra aware is a late, late night trip to a destination outside of Manhattan where you might be the only person on a train car. In that case I would walk to a car where other people are si...
