I assume the "No Pics No Comment" is just an OT Baw 350ism and everyone repeats it thinking they are funny and unique.
Yep - just ignore them. They won't go away, but who really cares?...

re: binoculars advice (for deer hunting)

Posted by Rabby on 5/24/24 at 12:27 pm
You need to answer how you intend to use binoculars before deciding on a type and how steady you are. Increasing magnification also increases wobble. If walking through the woods and using them handheld, 8X42 is the most commonly selected magnification with good field of view. These are my choic...

re: All the hate about Hi-Point pistols

I agree. My default is to carry it on my person, but there are times when that is not a good idea, so a lock system in a vehicle is also a good option....
St Tammany and Tangipahoa did this together many years ago and wound up getting some federal dollars along the way....

I would be more concerned that I negligently permitted a criminal to commit crimes with MY gun. That would really bother me. But people can be as irresponsible as they please....
This guy did the ultimate stupid thing and won the ultimate stupid prize. I hate it for the trooper who had and has to endure this traumatic experience. ...
Depends on who will care for the dog. You? Good to go. Me? No way....

re: Any of yall horse people?

Posted by Rabby on 5/13/24 at 8:33 pm
My family had a few horses over a couple of decades. It is a very expensive and demanding undertaking. I am glad to have had that experience, but also glad to not be carrying that burden anymore. ...
Don't know about Louisiana law but in Texas, that guy has the right to use deadly force to protect personal property from imminent loss or theft.
My understanding is that Texas has unique "self protection laws" which extend to property - especially vehicles. Don't try that anywhere...
Except that isn't even close to a reasonable litmus test unless you are in some anti-2A shithole state. In Louisiana, which has Castle and SYG doctrines, the standard is reasonable fear of serious bodily harm or a forcible felony. If you as much try to punch somebody through an open car windo...

re: Which is the most forgettable state?
Delaware. I'm not even sure it's real.
You are correct, but I am sure that it is real because it costs a fortune in tolls to cross a corner of that tiny state. Besides, we have them to "thank" for giving us the current occupant of the White House......
You may not be able to afford not getting help. This problem is bigger than you and your father are able to address. Dementia is a terminal illness and you might be able to get some government assistance. Have you looked at: [link=(https://www.cms.gov/medicaid-chip/medicare-coordination/qualif...
Just saw something on the news saying Methodist churches will allow gays to be in the ministry. If that’s how you wanna live your life, go ahead but that is completely against Christian living. How can they condone someone living in sin this way? Makes no sense to me, the day baptists start...
It is not Christian anymore if they allow it. They are preaching politics and not from the Bible. They have created their own personal god that is ok with whatever sin they want. This is a false god and it states in the 10 commandments: thou shall have no other god before me.
FIFY ...

re: Always loved the look of the 4 runner

Posted by Rabby on 4/26/24 at 11:36 am
We also liked the look, but I tried to drive one and it was not made for tall people. We were wanting to take long trips and the 4 Runner was just not a good plan. Go look at a Highlander for something more comfortable - if that is your priority....

re: Hummingbird migration

Posted by Rabby on 4/26/24 at 11:25 am
We saw winter hummingbirds across South Louisiana since October. The bulk of summer migrants usually show up just before St Patrick's Day in much of Louisiana, but a few will be a bit earlier to places which have had flowers and/or feeders out early in years past. They remember. Planting Red Buckeye...

re: Go Woke Go Broke, Dixie Beer Edition

Posted by Rabby on 4/24/24 at 11:47 am
A few thoughts: Making beer in NOLA is a bad idea because water is bad and expensive. The labor pool is poor and made worse due to crime and poor infrastructure. The beer name was tarnished due to the awful out of state beer made for the label. And it was awful. The older Dixie had been run in ba...
Man that's an impressive ID list
Thanks!
Y'all must have been doing it for a while to ID all those birds...
I was raised in a bird watching family, but took it up much later - after retirement.
Y'all using the old Sibley's book or the Cornell app?[/quote...
