re: Crew of the Dali (ship that hit Baltimore bridge) still trapped on board the ship
Posted by subMOA on 5/17/24 at 7:23 am
I was hoping someone would show a video like that- I spent a little bit working in the Canal Zone- with that, I was on a ship- working on my cargo, not part of the normal crew- but I did go around the ship a lot. This was a WW- Wallenius Willhelmsen ship- they move Toyota, Cat, Komatsu, and many...

re: Trailer Bearing Replacement near Baton Rouge

Remember to preload the bearings!
When you do it, run the castle nut down hand tight, then tighten with your socket, kinda snugish- then back off 1/4 turn and install cotter pin.
Make sure hubs turn freely after that. You should feel a little drag. There should be no slack on how the hub ...
re: So how big of a coward is Yahya Sinwar actually?

Exactly- I’m no global strategy expert- but what you wrote seems so simple to me.
“Wanna quit dying?”
“Quit shooting rockets at us and give us our people back.”...
So how big of a coward is Yahya Sinwar actually?
Posted by subMOA on 5/6/24 at 6:55 am
The guy does one of the greatest FAFOs in world history.
Now, he’s hiding underground with hostages used as human shields to protect him.
All while his “people” and their homes are turned into dust.
Absolutely amazing behavior to me. ...
re: Yamaha Outboard Service
Posted by subMOA on 5/6/24 at 2:54 am
It’s very likely something came unplugged- the last time I ran it was on the Tenn-Tom waterway on the wet test and then I towed it 400 miles down here. You are 100%- it could even be a vacuum hose.
The trim has me befuddled- all three switches work….same deal. They worked on the way home…...
Yamaha Outboard Service
Posted by subMOA on 5/5/24 at 9:29 pm
If I absolutely needed someone to look at my boat this week, who’s my best shot?
Port side motor all of a sudden started to idle high- 2100 rpm
Starboard motor trim all of a sudden isn’t working- was working last time I checked it- a few months ago. Motor comes on, oil is in there, but no l...
re: Pros and Cons of Tracks for SxS
Is it really any different from the tracks on nearly every rice combine in the delta?
Ahhh, I may know a thing or two about this also….
Although the premise is the same, Case IH, Deere, and Claas spent hundreds of millions of dollars perfecting something that Case IH launched in...
re: Anyone on here ever refreshed their gel coat?
Posted by subMOA on 5/5/24 at 7:49 am
Aqua Buff 1000
Aqua Buff 2000
Wax with Rejex when done
Keep the Aqua Buff wet while doing it.
Twisted wool pad.
You can bring it back to new. On higher end boats, the gel coat is as thick as a credit card- so there is plenty material to work with.
Just know Aqua Buff 1000 is pretty a...
re: My morning has been a steaming pile of first world problems
Posted by subMOA on 5/3/24 at 7:12 pm
I got one for y’all…happened today:
3 CPAs, 2 attorneys, and a parish economic development official neglected to mention to me that $600,000 in taxes paid in 2023 could have be deferred until 2026 because property I bought is in the Opportunity Zone.
For the first time in my career, I nearly...
re: Pros and Cons of Tracks for SxS
Posted by subMOA on 5/3/24 at 11:31 am
Pro- you can drive it through anything and it will go anywhere.
Con- ground speed is reduced significantly. You’re going from a 24” tall tire to about a 12” diameter sprocket and speed is reduced proportionally.
Con- they are terribly unreliable if not maintained. Remember- SxS tracks we...

We used to make forts in the woods. When one of our dads got a gas weedeater, you would have thought they gave us a skid loader with a mulching head- the trail network got MASSIVE! ...
re: Triton LTS22 vs SeaHunt BX22 vs Blazer Bay 2200
Posted by subMOA on 4/20/24 at 5:54 am
I’ve fished in all three of that generation and owned (a 2220) Blazer for 14 years.
The Triton is the one to get.
At that time, I would dare say that Triton was likely at the top of the bay boat game.
The Blazer will rattle your teeth out and be wet at the slightest chop- JUST like a...
re: Snapper Season

How would a nearly million pound recreational fishery be “beat up” when the season opened 3 days ago- on a Monday.
C’mon man. Just say you’re going snapper fishing on Friday and wanna know what block to go to. ...

I think the part that we mere mortals don’t understand is that there is so much money to be made in illicit activities, that normal hurdles are overcome quite easily. ...

re: Can this 747 take off?
Posted by subMOA on 4/10/24 at 9:21 pm
Thank you. A plane stationary, no matter if the hypothetical treadmill was going the speed of light, can’t take off because of Bernoulli's law.
It clearly says the treadmill goes as fast as the wheels. So no matter how much throttle the pilot applies, the plane stays stationary.
And to ...

re: Any diesel mechanics here?

Your machinist should know what to do- I didn’t look, but you’re probably looking at a thicker head gasket at a minimum- those should be readily available for that engine.
I’m presuming you brought the head assembled?
Really, you want him to work the head over and magnaflux it.
It dr...
