re: For those who Follow the MLB, is Skenes a Top 5 pitcher in the league already?

No but he’s heading in that direction. I think he will be there in a couple of years....

So you’re saying we’re getting a Disney movie out of this?...
re: Do we really think that Bear going pro.

Selfishly, I hope he’s offered below slot value because they think he’s position less. Then he will be inclined to return.
I don’t think it happens though....
His play defensively was not bad at all, in fact, looking back at it, he was very good all year. If he returns, he has no leverage and will have to go for the money they offer him.
He’s a draft eligible sophomore so he wouldn’t lose his leverage, would he?...

I can legitimately say o didn’t even know the US had a cricket team. I’m not surprised, I’ve just never seen or heard them mentioned, ever....

He came in as a catcher, so he’s played 1B for a little over 2 years. That being the case I think his defense is actually pretty good. He’s still learning the nuances of the position.
Either way, he will be a sought after prospect because of what he can do with the bat....
That’s LAST YEAR. Orgeron won a N.C. too but he was fired two years later.
At least the OP isn’t the dumbest person ITT anymore....

I’m loving all the “struck out the side” posts. The first “strikeout” was because of 3 fouled bunts and the following 2 were anything but dominant.
ETA: And the 3rd bunt “strike” was an inch away from being so perfect that it would have resulted in 1st and 3rd with no one out....
Jump wasn't hot in that game was he...Ackenhausen was. Stick to making ridiculous, fictional statements. You are good at that.
“Hot” meaning ready in the pen you fricking waterhead....
The "as needed" is yes a sign of desperation. LSU didn't have a lot of pitchers left as choices. I didn't say bringing in Jump was a perfect solution under any circumstances. But bringing him in for no reason at all was downright stupid.
Except it wasn’t for no reason at all. I...
Don't you just hate it when the pitcher faces 3 batters and strikes them all out.
No. I’m just not dumb enough to believe that doing so “earns” another inning....
re: Hold Jay Johnson to the same standard as football and basketball coaches
Posted by RB10 on 6/4/24 at 3:32 pm
Nope the correct move would be to bring Jump in as needed since Ackenhausen was on a roll.
You want to bring a starter in “as needed” when you just made the point that they aren’t usually used in relief?
I cannot believe there are people who think this is a good strategy....
And as someone pointed out, Ack wasn't really mowing them down. Yes, he struck out the side but he went to full counts on two of the hitters. And one of those strikeouts was from him getting lucky that bunt went two inches further left otherwise it would have hit the third base bag and bee...
Ackenhausen wouldn't have given up a couple of hits if Johnson had made the right decision. One walk...or one hit...and Ackenhausen is gone. Obviously Ackenhausen could have given up a home run in that hit but otherwise, Jump enters the game with LSU still ahead. I have seen nobody say to ...
I agree with that. Starters also aren't acccustomed to suddenly being relief pitchers....period.
Yet every year, starters from game 1 come in relief during game 7’s of regionals across the country.
Weird....
Starters aren't accustomed to being brought into dirty innings. MLB managers talk about this in the post season every season when this situation presents itself. But random TD poster is going to tell everyone what the CORRECT thing to do was.

This year, sure.
Last year, our shifts were perfect. particularly in Omaha.
I'm talking about this year. Pearson's positioning in the 9th is a perfect example. His heels were basically on the warning track in a 1 run game with a runner on 2nd. That makes no sense at all....
were we shifted on that single up the middle in extra's that scored? They said multiple times on the broadcast there was a clear ally right up the middle.
Milam and Bras were playing straight up I think. Milam may have even been shaded towards 1st....

LSU's shifts almost always seem to be wrong. That is definitely something they need to look at....
