re: When's the last time you wrote a check?

April 15 every year- Federal, State and to my CPA. 2-3 checks to the school/church for different events/field trips. ...
How about cereal? My wife eats Cheerios like it’s another food group. $8.50 a box around here.
Kids wanted some cereal at the store not long ago. No shite, the Malt-O Meal and the name brand were the exact same price. I couldn’t believe it.
I won’t eat at Subway on principle. EV...
Why West Virginia
They were paying people $12,000 to move there in 2020-2021. These people probably are starting to realize that the squeeze wasn’t worth the juice. ...

re: Do you separate whites from coloreds

I don’t have any clothes that are likely to bleed/run. I do three loads of laundry- golf shorts/fishing shirts/underwear (all dri-fit), cotton shirts/socks and jeans/pants. Only time I rest separate is with a new pair of jeans for 2-3 washes....
re: Who here considers themselves a LEGIT cook (for their SO)? LLotOT... ? for you also

I do 100% of the grocery shopping, 90% of the cooking (son took a cooking class at the Career Center for his electives this year, so he’s getting in the rotation), and about 75% of the dishes.
No formal lessons- learned how to cook from Mom (Dad couldn’t boil water, and she wasn’t raising sons l...

El Patio & El Paso are pretty much the same distance from our house. We favor El Patio because the kids like their nachos better. Superior is more like 3-4 times/year for us. ...

A Christmas Story 2 (not A Christmas Story Christmas) was pretty brutal.
My daughter decided to watch all of the Little Mermaid sequels a few years ago when we first got Disney+, and some of those power pretty bad, but they were direct to video, so that may not count. ...
re: Name a better comfort food than kraft mac & cheese, ground beef & cream of mushroom soup

Over Memorial Day weekend, we got invited to Toledo Bend for the day. While out on the boat, someone had made up some ‘boat sandwiches’- ham, a Kraft Single and slathered in Mayo.
I always want to dress up my sandwiches with fancy toasted bread, piled high with meat, etc, but the simplicity of a...
No, a few years ago we had a true freakish low temperature. Maybe 5-6 years ago?
Daughter’s friend had a ‘Frozen’ themed swim party that year  None of the adults were getting in that water. It was in the mid 60’s in July, if my memory is correct. It was crazy...

I remember going to PaPaw’s house in Baton Rouge, and he and my Mom reading his column back in the 90’s. I didn’t appreciate it then, but I’m sure I would enjoy it now....
re: Best Apple TV shows

Loot has been pretty entertaining.
Palm Royale was good.
Shrink Next Door was outstanding.
The Servant was REAL WEIRD (M. Night Shyamalan series), but we liked it.
Another vote for Shrinking and Severance.
Morning Show was SO SLOW. I couldn’t stay with it.

Shrimp boil- corn, mushrooms, Brussels, okra, sausage and the perfect bite sized potatoes. Homemade tartar sauce with plenty of dill to dip in, too.

re: Watermelon Vs Cantaloupe...Who Wins?
Posted by LSUGUMBO on 5/31/24 at 11:36 am
A bad watermelon is still much better than a bad canteloupe. I enjoy both when they're ripe and fresh, but I've never eaten canteloupe until I was physically ill- I can't say that about watermelon. ...

Bought a 2017 in 2021. Got a handful of ducks when it still had the temp tags on it. Young daughter thought it was fun, so we ducked a few Jeeps around the neighborhood.
It's not lifted, no huge tires, no major customizing. It probably won't go off road more than a handful of times. It's just a ...

Used to be Delta Blues- damn those little bits of cobbler crust are MONEY!
Way way back in the day, it was fudge brownie nut- that was my grandmother's favorite. Haven't seen it in a very long time, though.
