LSU guard Flau’jae Johnson will have a big task on Monday night as she attempts to limit Iowa's Caitlin Clark in the Elite Eight.

Johnson spoke with reporters on Sunday and was asked about the challenge of guarding Clark, who is averaging 31 points a game. Per On3:
quote:

“She’s just a great player,” Johnson said. “Last year I got to switch on her early in the game, and I was like, ‘She’s not going to pull that for real,’ and then she pulled it for real from half court, and she made it. I was like, whoa. Kind of had spurts and moments getting in switches with her.

“So it’ll be a good display for me. It’s just like I want to compete at the highest level, and right now Caitlin is the highest level. So if I can defend her, try to contain her and get the win, we’ll be fine. There’s no stopping her, but containing her, I’m going to take on that challenge.”
Clark scored a team-high 30 points but committed six turnovers when LSU beat Iowa in the National Championship 102-85 last April

Tipoff between No. 3 LSU and No. 1 Iowa on Monday night is set for 6:15 pm CT on ESPN.

The key for BIG4 is make her work on defense, take it to her. And LSU will have to throw some timely double teams at her to throw her off her game. HVL reminds me a lil of the Pelicans Jose how she sneaks up behind players for a steal. And Williams has to hit some 3's, people forgot about Carson 3's in that game. No worries, we got this.

She will be the best player in women's college basketball next year. It's clicked. Sometimes, it just all clicks for a player and that is what's happening to her now.

Defending her before she touches the ball in the key. Don't let her have too many touches.

That's a lot to ask, with all the screening they will do to free her. The key is to not go under the screen, switching will be key for LSU.

I don't think that she's as quick as Alexis Morris on defense. Your time Flau’jae!

Become Kobe intense on defense. You can make her feel like she’s got cement shoes on for the entire game. Like she’s having to shoot with 25 lb weights on her feet. Make her work. You have the athletic speed advantage.
