Assuming that what appears to be happening is happening, and Putin is simply taking back parts of Ukraine because he wants to and can, how should the US and Europe respond?

What will happen in real life is that the West will "blast" them with sanctions and "cripple" them with big talk. In response Putin will ironically accuse the West of violating international law.

What should be done? No one wants send kids to Europe to fight Russia and maybe China. I don't know the answer.

The west should be going after Trudeau, not Putin.

I say let Europe handle their shite. We’ve tried to help keep things peaceful over the years and all they’ve given back to us is a bunch of fat jokes.

Forget Putin. The real threat is in the South China Sea.

We should jump directly into a war that lasts 20 years, costs trillions of dollars, and sacrifices 1000s of lives, including civilians.

We should let the European countries worry about it and focus on fixing all the shite that's broken here.

With everything crumbling around us quickly over here in our own continent, worrying about Putin is akin to peaking over the backyard fence focused on what the guy next door might be doing doing while your own fricking house is engulfed in a raging fire.

All Putin wants is a treaty or declaration that Ukraine will not be admitted to NATO. We won't sign it. I'd sign it yesterday. Who gives a shite about NATO.

We have our own issues to deal with. Let Europe police itself for once.

There’s not a single reason why the US should police Europe’s neighborhood for them when they won’t lift a finger.

Putin isn’t so much interested in Ukraine as attention. He feels like a strongman bc the Potatus is going on TV and saying mean shite about him and humiliating himself.

What National interest does he threaten? Unless we can identify one, there really is no need to respond to him and I DGAF what he does.

Unless we were going to arm the Ukrainian people for a partisan campaign, there wasn’t much we could do.

The geography of Ukraine doesn’t lead itself to defense. Flat plains are good for growing wheat but bad for stopping tanks and infantry.
