Headed to Taos as well. 23 inches in the last 2 days, should be nice.

Chest deep in the trees. Snorkel time.

Hopefully I'll be there in a week if the big storm coming to Minneapolis doesn't make a mess of my travel plans.

Word. Conditions have been better here at Revelstoke than at Sunshine Banff and Lake Louise Banff earlier this week.

Im headed to Whistler Monday.

Powder Highway has been better on the West side of the Rockies.

La Niña, no doubt.

We fly to Albuquerque in the morning and then drive up to Red River. Snow mobile and tubing booked but still unsure about skiing.

My plan is Revelstoke, Sun Peaks and then Whistler. Was originally going to do Revy and Banff, glad I switched it up.

Legit plan. Banff is beautiful. Picturesque. But it isn’t holding the snowpack like Revelstoke is.

Good luck. We’ve been snow dancing and it is paying off.

Our initial plan (Park City) was to ski Monday and Tuesday, take Wednesday off then ski Thursday and Friday but with the storm rolling in we are thinking about taking off Tuesday and skiing Wed, Thurs, Fri.

I've been reading OpenSnow and it seems that if we had to pick one day or the other that should be the best bet but it seems like everyone I talk to here at Canyons things Tuesday is going to be great.

All intermediate skiers so would mostly be on greens and blues and I am just not sure the wife and daughter would feel comfortable in a storm with like 30 yards of visibiity

Any thoughts for those with more experience on snow reports?

OpenSnow is hit or miss.

Some resorts report low, no matter what.

Personally, I find that the snow report from the particular resort’s website gives the most accurate snowfall reports.

This storm is a pretty sure thing for Utah.

Still can "bust" but normally there's a lot more "what ifs" in the forecast.

Ive picked Wednesday for my big ski day of the week down at Copper in CO. I like to ski a storm.

Haha. I will be driving into Summit County from Denver on Wednesday. Not looking forward to it right now.

So you'd agree then if we wanted to skip the storm, skiing Wednesday at Park City would be there better option?

This is how I first started skiing black runs. On clear, bluebird days I could be at the top of a run looking down and see how steep it is or how small people look way down at the bottom of the run, but when I could only see 30 yards or so it became a lot more manageable. In other words it was less of an ability thing for me, and more of a mental (being psyched out) thing. I’m not saying to get out during a storm and push them beyond their ability, but that there can be advantages in white out conditions.

It can be difficult in a white out especially on the steep runs, but if they're doing greens and blues I agree they'll be fine. Plus they can learn to ski in bad conditions, will make them a better skier in the long run.

Ski plans for this week-

Monday- Snoqualmie/Alpental
Tuesday- Crystal
Wednesday- Crystal
Sunday- Crystal

Forecast for Alpental over next 10 days- 86". Forecast for Crystal- 31". Trying to use up the rest of my Ikon days here before leaving WA on 2/27! I'll start a roadtrip separate thread for my journey back east

Duke is there any chance of closures at Copper with this winter storm rolling in on Wednesday? We’ll be there the next 3 days.

opensnow
Open snow is your friend for rough estimates of wind and snow totals. Looks like 15-25mph, that's breezy but should be good
