We became pretty friendly with Gorbachev's and Yeltsins Russia, to be fair. Both were very much reformists.
Putin hated Gorbachev and soured on Yeltsin, but I don't think it was until Chechen wars that the tide turned back.

and today we have two woman, despised by many Americans, holding up a Flag of a Corrupt Ukraine and kissing Zelensky on the cheek like some hero.
while Pelosi a few years earlier tore up Trump's State of the Union speech..
It's really symbolic of the times we're living...

The left was pissed bc it’s ideological Mecca was defeated, the Rs who ran the MIC (cough Bushes) were pissed that they no longer had a bad guy. So the Left finally completed its infiltration of the MIC that had previously been limited to the state department by making a deal with the Bushes, and here we are. The worst elements of both political parties entirely control our foreign policy - whether economic or military
