We did it through Costco a few years ago and thought it was pretty easy and straightforward. They send you a list of the dealers in your area they work with. Set price, no haggling.
We looked on various websites to see what the lowest price off the sticker price dealers would usually agree to and the Costco price was comparable. Because of that, we ordered the vehicle with the specific features and colors we wanted.
But this was pre-Covid, before the new car market went nuts so I don't know how it would be now.

Good point, ours was in 2020 but there were still cars on the lot. My wife went back 6 months later for an oil change and the lot was a ghost town.

Does this mean financing is handled through the dealer?
Or can you charge it to your Costco credit card and pay it off the next month for the points (if theoretically a friend I am asking about might have stacks of cash laying around to do such a thing).
