Rouses kingcake like most of their in-house food is garbage. One of the worst by far.

This was over a year ago, but I was there and was going to get yogurt. It was $1 a piece. Went to walmart and the price went up to $0.63 from $0.55.

It could be free at Wally World and I’d still go to Rouses and buy it. Or Ralph’s, Harvest or Delaune’s!

I've only had one Rouse's king cake and it had an absurd amount of filling. The store only carried jelly filled too, which sucked.

Same here. I cut open my lemon one and it almost exploded. Good thing I didn’t get cream cheese.

I'm okay with spending more at Rouses. Seems like they make a big effort of having plenty of employees.

My wife got one at Food City here in Tennessee. It is actually pretty good. Only $18. Surprised me.

I usually go to the Rouse's at Vets and Causeway.. They haven't had the sales like they use to so I wouldn't go often. The last few times I have gone it is like a ghost town during the week. Not sure what it's like on the weekend. Last couple of weeks they have picked up on their sale items but it's still pretty empty.

I heard a radio commercial this morning claiming that their king cakes "taste and smell like Mardi Gras". That might sound good to a tourist but anyone who has been to Mardi Gras for many years knows that a claim like that is not a positive one.

Hmmm, smells like weed smoke, stale beer, old puke, and urine.
I'll pass on the taste of Mardi Gras.

People that never cared anything about Cajun culture have all jumped on the bandwagon the last 10 years because it's cool now.

Crawfish, King Cakes, boudin/cracklin, etc..
Used to be able to get great quality for cheap.

Now?
Prices are too damn high!
