Then do it. I'm telling you, you need to. I like the way you sound. Don't waste time. Don't look back later and say I shouldaWouldacoulda.
I'm not trying to be bossy, I just don't want to see you waste time. It may not work out, but at least you die trying.
I appreciate the encouragement. I’m never wasting time. I’m always using that perfectionist curse to tighten and better the songs. The hardest part is just getting to the point where I can say that’s it and say it’s finished.
Even the song you heard earlier has evolved since I recorded it. Even though most people wouldn’t even notice the difference lol

Man, you are talking to somebody who knows your problem, because I've always been the same way.
If I could go back I could have gotten things going with some easy songs, that I didn't have much invested in and saved my special songs for later.
I know you know what I mean. Those songs that you write, that everybody likes except you. Do them.
3 chords and she's my girl.

Tell you what, I bought a usb microphone like 2 years ago that I’ve never used. I’ll record something and upload it to my SoundCloud in the next couple of weeks.

Do it man, and just see what other people think. And don't think they're stupid if they like it.

I know man, it's a sickness in itself.
I re-wrote a 30 year old song today, I'm kind of likin it though. No bridge, no lift or real musical chorus. Just a subtle turnaround. I've never done anything like that.

There’s a song I released in 2021 that I started singing completely different live a few months ago. Now, I’m experimenting with changing it from a major key to a minor one. Another song that I wrote in 2009, I completely rewrote the bridge and chorus when recording it to release in 2022. A song I released in 2016, I cut a huge amount of the song and then later I sped it up like 40bpm and turned it into a funk song. I’m rarely ever satisfied with a song, and NEVER satisfied with a recording.

Me and you are a lot alike, except you like typing.

I received a scaled down department store guitar from my parents in 1970 for my 6th birthday. It was very similar in color to the one pictured and also had the single pickup config.
I traded it with a buddy when I was in my late teens and had graduated to a better guitar. I don't even recall what we traded.
About 10 years ago I started thinking about that old guitar and wishing I had never let it go. My buddy and I still stay in touch so I called him to ask if he still had it or knew what happened to it, but sadly it was long gone.
Out of all the guitars and amps I've owned over the years I miss the one that had the least value simply because it was my first and was the gift from my parents that started my love of guitars and music.

Pretty sure I’ve told this story here before but I traded my Dads 65 Strat and 65 Vibroverb for a Charvel and Laney amp.

Recently, I saw a program with Rodney Crowell saying he does this, so you're in fine company.

Thank you. Between me and auggie, we might just save country music yet! Lol

Or, in my case, at least kill it quick and mercifully.

Hal Ketchum and Lee Roy Parnell? Pretty solid recommendation.

Well, I was talking more about the style, more towards that soulful sound that they both always had. And we've only heard that 1 song so far, but that's the type of thing it made me think of.

Lmao. Just now seeing this. I wonder how country radio would feel about 80% of the chords in my song being jazz chords.
