I just feel like this team is returning so much production they could handle a tough schedule but we’ll see. Redus tweeted there’s something happening this week.

Since recruiting has shutdown until Aug. 20th, here’s a recent (& most in-depth) interview with Aneesah Morrow.

She discusses how she’ll mesh with the supposed egos, her school decision, why LSU, her work ethic, her surgeries, best conference, and a host of other topics.

The Cambridge recruitment seems to have gotten a bit more interesting, a top 15 player is supposedly committing to SC next month (same position as Cambridge). The team to beat out is probably Ohio St with her sister there and she seems to like them a lot

The PG you mentioned last month that would commit to SC turned out to be (#11 overall, #3 PG) Madisen "Maddy" McDaniel on Aug. 12th. SC has a logjam at PG now with soph Raven Johnson, frosh Milaysia Fulwiley and commit, McDaniel. Like you suggested, SC is almost certainly out of the running for Cambridge.

So it’s LSU vs Ohio State for Cambridge. They’ve got a really good program. I think Velez will be a damn good PG so if Cambridge signs it’ll be interesting to see how that shakes out. I happen to think she’ll be more of a combo guard in college.

Then there's the curious post on the previous page by BengalDawg, who implied Louisville is the favorite for Cambridge. But it's a weeks-old account and his one-and-only post. Could be an alter/troll. Could be real info by an oft-lurker.

If HVL stays two years, we could also have a PG logjam with HVL, Velez, Cambridge, & Richard. But you still take them all bc potential injuries and/or attrition that could devastate the position quickly.

She certainly has the skills to play CG, and it would probably be the quickest way to get minutes on the court. In theory, she could potentially have to wait 3 years before she starts at PG, which is the only position her slim 5-7 frame can play in the W, if that's her ultimate goal. So, she could potentially pick a school that offers a relatively quicker route playing PG, with less depth, for multiple years of starting/training at the position.

Yeah I really think Cambridge goes elsewhere. There’s also a real chance Sarah Strong goes to UCONN. Geno wants her bad. LSU could potentially only end up with Richards and Koval. & I just can’t see Joyce Edwards leaving the state of SC.

If we miss on any of the incoming freshman, I trust that Mulkey and company will pull in seasoned transfers ready to play to fill in any weaknesses.

I highly doubt that scenario is going to happen. I fully expect LSU to land at least a couple more of those players on the list. They may not land everyone but I just don't see Kim completely whiffing on all these players LSU is in contention and hosting coming off a national title with the buzz going on down here.

FWIW, I heard LSU was in really good standing with Strong. Strong is #1 on LSU's list as well in terms of importance for 24 class.

Lets see what happens after these kids get to campus, Reese, Morrow were never supposed to end up at LSU but things change after one visit. Kim has done an excellent job recruiting and closing on recruits over the last year. She signed the #1 class before we even won a game last year. The two kids we hosted this offseason from the portal (#1 and #2 in the portal) we got them. The visit went well enough to where Morrow even canceled her SC visit. I would say Kim has more than earned the benefit of the doubt and confidence that she will close strong again. What the final class ends up looking like we will have to wait. Just have to be patient.

First round of visits is September 9 with Sarah Strong and Kate Koval. Strong will be playing with and hanging out with Mikylah Williams again during 3v3 tournament just prior to her visit to BR.

I hear ya I just believe after watching a recent interview Geno is out to remind everyone just who He is. His team is finally healthy and he wants Sarah Strong. So we shall see.

I'm sure he is. UCONN hasn't won it all since 2016, this is the longest stretch in his entire career without a national title (over 7 years) and I'm sure that does bother him a lot. He is 69 and on the home stretch of his career and he probably wants to get one more before going out. Plus this is his chance really with Fudd and Paige (two #1 recruits) on the roster with the depth they have.

UCONN will always remain among the elite while he is the HC. That said I don't see UCONN anymore light years ahead of the rest of the country like they were previously. I think the rest have caught up, plus there is much more talent being disperses among different schools. That doesn't mean they won't win another one but the giant gap isn't there anymore IMO. Its much more difficult now to win it all with increased parity (hence the amount of upsets this year compared to previous years)

Kim (LSU) and Dawn (SC) have won 4 of the last 6 national titles. The other two coming from Stanford and ND.

Oh I totally agree. I was hoping to get them in the Cayman Islands but doesn’t look like that will happen. Maybe we get UCLA? They’ve got a horse in the middle as well. I’m predicting a LSU, UCONN, UTAH, IOWA Final Four. Those are the four best teams imo. Although I do believe SC will be very good by the end of the yr.

FWIW, UConn just released their non-conference schedule (on Aug 16th) and they are still scheduled to play in the Cayman Islands Classic on Thanksgiving weekend.

Nov. 4 SCSU (exhibition)
Nov. 8 Dayton
Nov. 12 at NC State
Nov. 16 Maryland
Nov. 19 at Minnesota
Nov. 24 Cayman Islands Classic
Nov. 25 Cayman Islands Classic

Dec. 3 at Texas
Dec. 6 Ball State
Dec. 10 North Carolina
Dec. 16 Louisville
Dec. 20 at Toronto Metropolitan
Jan. 27 Notre Dame
Feb. 11 at South Carolina

Some really good matchups, like NCAA tournament level matchups: SC, ND, Louisville, Maryland

Nice to finally see them all together. Can't wait to see eventual team practice clips.

HVL (& Brink) was literally playing in Quebec yesterday for yet another 3x3 Finals. (They lost to Canada, fwiw.)

Iirc, Morrow & Mikaylah just came back from a Nike Camp this past week.

And Mikaylah is heading out again (with Sarah Strong) for the Aug 30th 3x3 tourney.

We have a bunch of jet-setters.

EDIT: After watching some body language interrogation vids recently, it's interesting to see the "self-soothing" hands-crossed & the "guarding" folded/crossed-arms. When Kim speaks, she must instill some level of nervousness/anxiety in the players, even the coaches, that she means business.

In what position would their hands and arms be if they were at ease and comfortable? Just curious.

LSU just announced that they'll play Niagara and Virginia in the Cayman Islands. Rest of the non-conference will announced this week. UConn is playing UCLA in that Cayman Islands which makes me wonder if we were originally supposed to play VA Tech there until they matched us up for the SEC-ACC Challenge.

I’m really hoping Virginia Tech and Colorado aren’t the only good teams on the schedule. That would be disappointing.

Rest of the Schedule should be dropped within the next few days

But be prepared, there may be couple more quality teams on the schedule but Kim has historically never heavy OOC schedules. How she has been for over 20 years, I wouldn't expect significant changes from how she scheduled at Baylor.

It is what it is. I honestly don't have issue with having some weaker teams on schedule but I'd prefer for some of our 'cupcake' opponents to be in the top 100/top 150 versus teams all the way near 300s. There is a colossal difference in quality of those teams.
