I just finished the latest episode. Tax kills a marten that was in his food stash.
I thought that was not allowed, martens were off limits. I’m thinking back to the one that was caught in a snare so the contestant had to let it go.

If I recall correctly, it was not all martins but a certain sub-species of the animal that were endangered.

No way the only girl left wins this thing and she's annoying AF but its actually impressive how long she's lasted without any meat. Just eating berries, moss, etc would've taken the will of most of the men.

It would be kind of interesting if during a season they allowed the contestants to communicate with each other. Let them once a week send a video out that each person gets to see. They could either show off fish, berries,etc...they've got to break the others spirits. Also can show off the structure they built that's really good so the other people feel it necessary to improve theirs knowing they can withstand the cold.

The whole premise is the mystery of "How many are left and how much farther will I likely have to go to win"?

I agree on no contact but I think a nice wrinkle would be to show more of the medical visits and inform them on who has tapped out like the Hunger Games. When it gets down to the final 4 or so I would stopped giving them this information. It might compel people to dig deeper and stick around or hurry them to tapping.

Finished the newest episode last night.
Mikey is now the most annoying to me. This is no disrespect to anyone on here who has an autistic kid, but my god I am sick of hearing about his autistic kid. Every single episode there are multiple segments of him talking about his autistic son. I guess he does absolutely nothing because it's like that is the only footage you get of him. His biggest Alone attribute is he is the fattest person on the show
Still riding with Alan and Wyatt like I have been. Really hope Wyatts arm doesn't get him medically removed. It's been a while since he hurt it and it's still swollen and oozing puss. Not good. But him and Alan are clearly the two best fisherman/hunters this year and seem to be in a good place mentally.
Kind of hated to see Taz go, I actually liked him.

i just been fast forwarding through those parts. i do that regurlarly when anyone is talking about whatever sob story they have regarding their home life. I know it's sad to feel this way. No disrespect to him or his kid, but that's just not what this show is for, and it's not what i want to see. I get it plays a role, but for god sake do we really need to spend this much time on it when we are so limited in how much time we already have that's condensed down from weeks of footage?

that thing does not look good. Looks like he's got a baseball in his arm.
Alan and Wyatt seem to be in the best situation to close this out, and if Wyatt's arm didn't look like that i'd probably go with him to win it.

You mean what the show actually should be? i'd love that as well.
They could just do a hour or two long segment with the main 4 or 5 people that lasted the longest of them talking amongst each other and having each of them show some of the things they did that wasn't shown on tv. And none of this lets have a host that's going to ask stupid pop tv questions that only an idiot would want to know. For example, what i would expect the history channel would do is have Bear Grylls be the host to ask stupid questions instead of having Survivorman Les Stroud ask the real survival questions.

I think maybe the time lapse is probably why we don't see as much. I think the show mostly shows when they are talking. If they are busy fishing, hunting, working, they don't show us.

I agree. I really like Wyatt the most. That arm is pretty damn swollen. At some point, it should either get much better or it will make him sick and he will be removed.

I completely agree. He is annoying. He must talk about his son all the damn time. It's not that I don't care at all, but that I really don't care about any of their families unless it's explaining how they got to where they are and can live off the land for weeks.

I still watch them just because maybe they'll say something half interesting. But like this episode, with Alan, Wyatt, Taz, and even Melanie to a degree, they are at least doing SOMETHING while it's telling their story. Alan was fishing and it was just him talking about his relationship with his dad. Taz was out in the boat, Wyatt was fishing, Melanie was building something. Mikey? Just laying in his turd of a tepee talking about his son.
I don't mind the personal life stuff, but I feel like this season has just so much more of it.
And I feel like they might need to do something in the future about how much weight a person can put on before hand. I get that would be hard to really manage but maybe see what weight they normally are and not let someone on that gains 100 extra pounds. I'm sorry there is just nothing impressive to me for a guy like Mikey that added 100 pounds and just basically rides it out because of the extra weight he put on.
It sounds like I hate this show
I still really like it, this season has just been a little frustrating.

One of the editors must have an autistic kid. I don’t mind if Mikey is out there talking to the camera about missing his special needs kid, but the editors need to pare it the frick down for the broadcast. This season has been pretty boring overall.

dont' know about that, but i know Australia has there own Alone spinoff. Just one season. 6 of them tapped out in the first 12 days. the next 2 tapped out before 30 days. The last 2 went 64 days, and a lady won.
