Find me the interview on video where he actually stated that quote .

He said it. I heard it live on his radio show.
He denied saying it. I heard that live during his press conference.

I don’t know what the big deal is. I have heard Miles and Orgeron say things like that many times, let alone Spurrier. Maybe not Saban so much. That was a pretty mild statement.

Paraphrasing what he said on the coaches show … this is what he meant:

“We have a lot of new freshman and transfers making their first road game at LSU…..but make no mistake, that’s not an excuse, the plan is to go beat the heck out of Florida state. We’re not going there to see what we’re gonna do, we’re going there to win and beat them.”

In no way did he imply literally that we’re going to go beat the heck out of Florida state guaranteed. He was saying yeah we have new players and some holes here and there, but we’re going in to win the game and beat them despite any potential roster deficiencies.

Listen to the coaches show and you’ll understand what he meant in context of his first comment about new players

I also heard him say it live. Bulletin board material, maybe. But I don't think that a statement made to fans on a local radio program has anything to do with disrespecting an opponent. It was made to pump up the faithful, that's all. I don't think Kelly should be denying he said it, just reiterate that it was said to pump up the fans-that's all.
