For me Taylor Kitsch and Idris Elba. I think John Carter doomed Kitsch, Idris Elba just seems like he would be a leading man. Elba was great in The Wire, and has shown an ability to pull off characters on both sides of the pond. Not sure why he’s never been bigger.

Same answer every time...

Billy Campbell.

Dude had everything. Great looking, killed it in Rocketeer, funny, charming, etc. Not sure what happened.

Recently saw him in this really cool Canadian crime drama where he plays this detective, but can't think of the name of it.

Michael Fassbender must have the worst agent in show business.

I could list a hundred of these. I'll try to limit myself to the last 60 years:

Reese Witherspoon - I expected her to become America's Sweetheart. Cute-hot for guys, but not intimidating to women. Her career will always seem disappointing to me.

Ray Liotta - I predicted he'd be a star after seeing Something Wild. But despite the lead in Goodfellas he never really made it.

Cuba Gooding Jr - won an Oscar, seemed poised for a big career, then sorta disappeared.

F. Murray Abraham, Geoffrey Rush - they won Oscars and then... what?

Adam Carolla - he was the funny one on The Man Show, yet Kimmel got the late night gig for 20 yrs. God? Are you there?

Oscar winning actress who has been killing it in three different streaming shows? Nominated for multiple Oscars and Emmys?

Whaaaaaa? Pirates of the Caribbean was a huge hit. Nominated for Shakespeare in Love, Quills, and The King’s Speech.

I’ll offer Josh Hartnett (though he’s been making a comeback lately) and Julia Ormond.

I thought she would be HUGE - on the level of stardom Julia Roberts inexplicably achieved (Speaking of which, Pretty Woman was turned down by Molly Ringwald, whose mishandling of her career is a case study in destroying your stardom)

Again, I thought he would be much bigger, a major character star

thanks for the warning

Julia Ormond
She burned a lot of bridges (dumping her agent) to get Sabrina & when that failed she didn't have a lot of friends left on either side of the pond.

Another UK actress who looked to be going places: Emily Lloyd. But rumors started that she had made anti-Semitic remarks about H'wood execs...

Reese Witherspoon sold her production company for around half a billion dollars. She's not worried about acting.

Except he was the most downloaded podcast over a decade ago, when podcasts weren't a thing, and can say whatever the F he wants, every day. He won. No juggies anymore, but Carolla won the argument and the cash.

He's a star because of millions of downloads for every week of episodes, not including Adam & Drew, or every other cast he does I don't have time to listen to.

Greg Kinnear was killing it for a couple years there in the late 90s, but he dropped off the face of the Earth. Always thought he was a very capable actor.

Actresses;
Amy Smart, had some really good roles during the American Pie era.

Serinda Swan, I really liked Graceland.

Vera Farmiga, was in top tier stuff but I always thought she was a lead.

Minnie Driver, unbelievable actress.

There are so many. Carrie Anne Moss, Diane Kruger (definitely underutilized)

Actors;

Ethan Embry, Jonny Lee Miller, Frank Frickin’ Grillo.

Even though he’s a star. Tom Hardy should be an even bigger star with a cabinet filled with awards.

I was always shocked that James McAvoy never got any award consideration for his amazing job in Split.

It surprised me that Bonnie Somerville who played Mona in half a dozen episodes of Friends didn't use that story arc as Ross's GF as a launching pad to bigger things, too.

Ben Foster is one of the most underrated actors of all time.

Mind you, he is climbing the ranks (albeit slowly) and maybe he prefers it that way. However, he is a very talented actor.

Cardinal.

Weirdest place I ever saw him pop up was the mayor (candidate?) in the killing

Full fan of Adam, but I think he doesn't give 2 flips about being in the spotlight. Unlike soyboy Kimmel, who sold his soul. You'll never see Adam cry onstage at the drop of a hat like whatever the heck Jimmy has turned into.

Adam keeps busy and isn't hurting for work or money. Clearly the MAN part of The Man Show.
