Aranda is gonna get canned so if house leaves he’s the obvious choice

I miss our corners playing press man anyway

That job is no place for a coordinator and first-time head coach. They need a real program builder.

I predict Lance Leipold from Kansas or Chris Klieman from Kansas State, maybe Mike Elko from Duke, although he might be the next Texas A&M coach.

House is a good coach, but that seems like a big jump...

wasn't the current head coach of MSU a D coordinator?

Kirby Smart was D coordinator when he took the Georgia job

Dabo, Jimbo, Lane, the current ND coach, it's a long list...who make the jump to HC

so, I'd say this jump is pretty common...

Saban came from the Cleveland Browns as DC to MSU

BK knows how to make DC hire
House
Freeman
Lea
Elko
Diaco
We’ll be fine either way

Could probably get Aranda back after this season.

Matt House is a good coach with a good resume and despite what this board thinks, he’s highly thought of in the coaching world.

A situation like Michigan State is in, they may need to go the alum route. Makes a lot of sense.

Chris Klieman from Kansas State

I get that Michigan State is historically a better program than KSU, but nowadays? I'd stay put if I'm Klieman.

I've been very happy with House outside of two halves of football. But, they were biggies: 2nd half of A+M game last year and 2nd half of FSU game.

Leonhard's situation is interesting. He was the DC at Wisconsin for five years, was a finalist for assistant coach of the year, was likely getting a HC job soon, and then got the interim job last year at Wisconsin when they fired Chryst. He then underwhelms as head coach going 5-3, losing three home games. After not being named permanent head coach, he bolted and is in a placeholder year as analyst at Illinois.

I wish to hell we would go after him as DB coach for next season, and have him lined up for the DC job if/when House leaves. Even knowing if he does well, he is going to leave for a head coaching job asap.

Michigan State could double or even triple his salary.

This he said she said issue would've been under the rug if he had gone 10-2 last year

No doubt they got bailed out big time. Tucker was never worth 95 million dollars. Thats just silly. MSU knew it or finally realized it & likely went fishing for some “Moral Turpitude“ to weasel out of their huge contractual mistake.

House is one of 15 candidates listed by Feldman in that article. He isn't in the top 10 most qualified from the list. OP left out some context for the clicks.

He’s on that list because of his ties to the school. Stability is something a program looks for when there’s a scandal. Remember Mike Price at Bama? They hired Shula because of his stability and ties to the program. Ole Miss did the same with Matt Luke after Freeze was shown the door.

If MSU strikes out on some guys, House’s program ties could come into play. That said, I highly doubt they get that far down this list.

This is bullshite. It’s not what you see everyday in college football today, but if anything, it’s progressive for the college game. Most DCs don’t want to run as much zone with multiple looks and disguised blitzes and coverages because of the limited practice time they have.

That said, I don’t think House is amazing or irreplaceable. I think he would be a lot better with some of the roster issues worked out, but that’s partially because his scheme is somewhat demanding and works better with more continuity. Complex isn’t always better.

TD will beg him to leave, then beg him to come back. It's going to be entertaining if he gets the job. But I doubt he gets it.
