Odds are.... you don't either and if someone gave you an elite secondary, you couldn't coach them. Am i wrong, then get off the couch and go coach...... SLICK!

OP, I think you probably worded your post in a way that’s going to get you a lot of downvotes, but I think I understand what you are saying. We’ve seen true elite DB’s come through here that have been able to play from day 1. The guys we have now are not on that level, at least they aren’t yet.

The standard that Brian Kelly has set thus far:

2-3 vs top 10 competition @ LSU.

Saturday he will either be 3-3 or 2-4. Neither is good enough.

I understand you can only do so much but he put us in this situation by taking kids with issues

This is a false narrative.

He took 1 kid with issues. That’s it. And everyone on this board was thrilled when he did, because that kid is an elite talent, he just doesn’t want it enough.

The kid from Ohio state didn’t have off field issues. It’s unfortunate he had a preseason injury that cost him the year. But that’s not BKs fault.

And Chestnut had no off field issues at Syracuse. He was all ACC playing against good competition. He should have been at least an average SEC corner. Not sure what happened in his case but it’s not like he was a problem before he got here.

In year 1 BK hit on just about every DB transfer he took. This year it didn’t work out as well due to the above. Maybe O and Raymond should have left the team in better shape or BK wouldn’t be in this mess he’s trying to clean up.

You're not going to get far with this because a large part of the board had BK as the smartest man in the room while taking over for the last two knuckle draggers in charge. They will all go down with the ship and then deny it ever happened.

That is a ridiculous thing to even suggest.

I think Brian Kelly knows exactly what's about to happen on Saturday. He's not going to say it out loud.

Here is another idiot of about four or five here constantly starting threads whose downvote to upvote ratio is at least 100 to one.

Can we please have some system where those with a constant avalanche of downvotes are banned from starting threads?

He’s demonstrably more intelligent than the last two. Sorry this hurts your feelings.

him saying we have elite young players in the secondary is not even close.

Really? He didn't say they were playing at an elite level only that they were elite players coming out of high school. And then said they have to step up but are really good players. You need to pay better attention.

To clarify, he did not say we had elite DB play or that he expected elite DB play. So help me understand what you are talking about.

Do you think they aren't really good players?

Do you think they weren't elite coming out of high school?

Do you think 4-star guys out of HS aren't elite coming out of HS?

Which part don't you agree with again?

He's forgotten more about football than you'll ever know. Patrick Peterson isn't walking through that door so we have to roll with who we have. Is what it is. Support them or don't.

What I do know though is that I'll trust his opinion on everything football over anything you can think up in your pea sized brain.

You're going to instantly take back this statement and agree with OP if we lose Saturday.

OP is right to a certain extent. Kelly thought that pulling in transfers from mid-major programs would be the answer to under-recruiting at the DL and DB positions. Turns out that isn't how you compete with top 10 ranked teams. The FSU game showed that.

I dont think BK knows what that is or what we expect here. He might wanna go watch film on the DB's we used to have over the years and get the "STANDARD" back to DBU status in a hurry. No way he understands the standard here.

He was asked pre-season about return to DBU and he said we are a few recruiting cycles away from that, so yes, he does, and yes, you're an ignorant arse.
