Sounds like what the studios said when actors wanted royalties for television rights.
Studios can determine when something airs.

Previous contracts for licensing went:

-Streamer licenses for N dollars to licensing body
-Licensing body doles out royalties per contracts as consumed products
-Streamer only has to pay again when re-licensing

What actors wanted:

-Streamer licenses for N dollars to licensing body
-Licensing body doles out royalties per contracts
-ADDITIONALLY Streamer pays royalties anytime anyone streams any content
-Streamer has to pay again when re-licensing

Basically Actors (and Writers) want streamers to subsidize them because the old network/cable television is rapidly evaporating.

Bob Bergen has been the voice of Porky Pig since Mel Blanc passed, and I've been able to enjoy having been coached by him personally. This was his take yesterday, and is obviously VO-centric:

Some here can’t fathom the idea of people wanting to not get fricked over by the studios via AI or shite pay. Majority of actors aren’t rich or anywhere close to it

most working actors and writers do very very well.

the 90% of both unions who don't work were a big part of why this lasted so long.

The truth of the matter is they'll just start using AI without hiring a new voice actor.

These people are advocating future actors out of a job solely for their own short-term personal benefit.

There are a surprising number of people in La. Who work on film production locally. Lighting, sound, props, etc.

Will Disney blame a lack of promotion by Brie Larsen and others for why The Marvels craters this week?

They would get more sympathy if the SAG leadership hadn’t acted like douchebags in public.

They sent out a missive that members shouldn’t dress up for Halloween in any outfits representing studios being struck against.

Ryan Reynolds took the piss out of them by replying that he would be screaming “Scab!” at his daughter all Halloween night as a result.

SAG-AFTRA's new contract is worth more than $1 billion over three years. But the union did not get one of its top priorities: a share of revenue from each streaming platform.

Instead, the union won a “streaming participation bonus” that will be worth about $40 million annually.

Yeah, that was a monumental dick move. The SNL sketch about that the week Pete Davidson hosted was amusing.

So when do they go to replenish their worn out acting skills?
