Its fairly common for them to use clarified butter as well, I believe. I've seen a few Reddit threads where people ask what it is, and a lot of responses say it's butter or oil where they work.

I'm sure it varies from place to place, but it would make sense because a lot of restaurant food is covered in butter throughout cooking and before serving. We kept a bottle of melted butter next to the flat top when I waited tables, and everything grilled got generously doused in it.

I love Superior Margaritas and, my only complaint about them is the are expensive, at least to me, outside of Happy Hour.

Nothing wrong with Superior except the high prices for Fajitas.

They do very well with their seasonal menus, lunch menu value, a la carte items, and HH margaritas. I can’t attest to the Govt location but the few hundred times I’ve been to Highland I don’t think I’ve ever had “bad food” per se. Can’t say the same about La Carretta or Tio Javis on my visits.

Outside if a few nickels difference, Superior is be best all around Tex Mex in town.

If you want sticker shock go try Mestizos for a sit down meal and have a few drinks. My god that is the worst value in town. Mediocre food ruining very interesting ingredients and plating. Bad margs with little dick syndrome against Superior.

Yes, fajitas. It tastes like they dip the steak in butter before serving.

However, saying Mi Padres is better is straight up wrong

Better is subjective, i prefer mi padre's over superior. Tacos, enchiladas, burritos are better. I've yet to find a good steak fajita place in BR. They are either cut way too big/thick or it's cold. I've yet to find one in this town, anymore, that is good.

We just had a chuckle last time we ordered margaritas at dinner elsewhere and it came in a short rocks glass filled with ice and was $14. You're seeing this a lot these days in middle/nicer restaurants. It seems like gone are the days of $6-$10 cocktails beyond a happy hour deal. At least at Superior there's a lot of it in my cup, haha.

you are right. Complain all you want about the food prices at Superior but I think they beat a lot of other restaurants when it comes to margarita prices. (actual cost per ounce)

i think the main gripe is people go out to eat tex mex (fairly cheap ingredients/food/drinks) and dont expect to pay ruth's chris prices

If you want cheap tex mex, there are plenty of options in BR for this.

And the Ruth's Chris hyperbole is a bit much.

Queso = $10
Steak Fajitas x 2 = $61
Regular Frozen Marg x 4 = $80
Total = $151
Tax = $15
Tip = $32
All-in total = $198

2 people

When you go out to dinner with a date do you order 2 entrees?

That's a shite ton of food and drinks for 2 people.

Margs also aren't that expensive. You're just making up prices. Also, most dates might barely walk out the building after drinking 2 large ritas from there

If my wife and I go to Superior Grill, just the two of us, it's likely going to look like this:

2x large frozen margaritas at Happy Hour prices = $20
1x beef fajitas = $32
Total = $52
Tax = $10
Tip = $20
All in = $82

If we go to Ruth's it looks something like this:
2x cocktails = $30
Bottle of wine = $80
2x steaks = $100
2x sides = $20
2x salads = $25
Total = $255
Tax = $25
Tip = $50
All in = $330

Just stop with this dumb comparison.

lmfao you could also do the exact same thing at Ruth's and order 1 entree (no apps, salad or sides) and 1-2 drinks

so you pig out at Ruth's but not Superior

happy hour assumption is also kinda silly, who is going to dinner from 3-6?

I'm getting just about the same amount of booze in that margarita as I am with several drinks at Ruth's.

I get unlimited chips and salsa, which are filling.

With my entree at Superior, I get all the sides and condiments I want.

At Ruth's, it's all a la carte, so if I want anything other than a slab of beef I have to order it separately.

And at Ruth's, I'm paying for a nicer dining experience. So yes, I'm going to have a few drinks, take my time with dinner, and enjoy it.

And I really don't think you should be the one calling someone out for "pigging out" at a restaurant. Queso, two large margaritas, and an entire order of steak fajitas at Superior Grill is plenty of food for 2 people with leftovers, but you are eating that yourself.

Well, happy hour is until 6:30.

And if you've ever been to Superior Grill (which I am starting to think you haven't actually ever been), you'd find that LOTS of people are in there eating dinner before 6:30 so they can take advantage of the happy hour price.

So it's not a bad assumption.

Another point to make - I can bring my entire family to SG (5 of us) and are out the door for less than what you named above.

You aren't winning this argument, so just stop.

Bread at ruth's is filling

You just order way more items/food/drink at Ruth's so of course your scenario will cost more significantly.
