The massive fire bombings all over Japan were far bigger killers than the two atomic bombs. Japan would not have surrendered based on the fire bombing campaign. Ultimately, the atomic bombs resulted in a lot fewer Japanese and American lives lost.

The alternative to winning elections is the dems making birthday abortion legal on demand.

Yes, that's right. In my opinion. We all have opinions on what we think is best. This is my opinion, and yet I also have a logical reason for why I believe what is right is actually right, rather than merely my opinion.

I'm called to be in the world but not of the world. The GOP is "of the world", because they do not fight what what is right, but rather go along with what is wrong in order to win votes, which they can't use to vote for what is right, lest they don't get the votes next time.

And that is certainly your right, just be prepared to lose every election and reap the consequences that will come with losing.
What's the benefit of winning elections when you cannot vote according to what is right, lest you lose the next election?

What you don't seem to understand is that the GOP isn't winning anything. They either run on liberal policies or they can't vote for conservative policies because it's not politically expedient. The left is winning the culture war and indoctrinating the population into its godless, humanistic and socialistic worldview so that future generations will continue to be more liberal then their parents, expecting more government involvement and less freedom on top of having a completely backwards moral compass. They won't even be able to think in terms of "conservative" categories because they'll take for granted the liberalism/progressivism that they've grown up with.

In the future, the GOP will more and more not be able to run on conservative principles nor vote for them because of the same reason why abortion has become such a poisonous issue in recent years. A few decades ago, it was expected the Conservatives were pro-life. Now, you can't say anything about it without risking losing your election. The same thing will happen with other issues.

The problem is that "abortion" is not the black and white issue the evangelicals would have you believe. There are actually medically, and morally, viable reasons to have an abortion, but they ignore those.
Instead they focus on the super small percentage of those doing it simply because they didn't want a baby. Nevermind the mother that might die if they carry the pregnancy to term. Nevermind the rape/incest victim who is pregnant with her attacker's child. Nevermind the fetus having a genetic defect that would result in death or a lifetime of poor quality of life.

The crazy part, or the one you (and others) fail to understand, is that nobody is asking YOU to betray your Christian principles. We only ask for your vote. Nothing more, nothing less.

However, politics is a game of chess/strategy. Decisions are made based on the probability of gaining (or losing) power. Even without knowing you, your education, or what you do for a living, I can unequivocally tell you that smarter minds are sitting at the table making these decisions.

I’m dyed-in-the-wool anti-abortion and realize that denying someone/anyone a freedom (regardless of my personal or moral belief) is a recipe for politcial disaster. And when Democrats have both Chambers and the WH, it won’t be long before society as we know it is gone.

It’s better to lose the battle and win the (culture) war than vice versa.

The big end of the abortion bat to hit dems with is the "birthday abortion on demand" end that dems support. It's hard to do that because the MSM of dems studiously elevate the "no abortion for any reason" Republicans to represent all of the GOP with a constant drumbeat to the media screen lickers. Meanwhile, there is absolutely no question that "birthday abortion" is murder clear and simple and the vast majority don't support it or anything close to it.

How are you betraying your principles?
How has abortion ever affected you in your life?

Because the other side will gain the power to codify roe v wade and it will be far worse than the present state. Your "all or nothing" attitude is very dangerous.

How can a Speaker of the US HOUSE have any role in the disposition of state-level legislation?

Dude I'm sympathetic to your position but the health of the mother, rape incest and genetic defects dont represent the majority of abortion case reasons. Most of the data indicates financial and unwanted lifestyle change reason being the major reason (75%).
It is true though that genetic defects or other health reasons do account for most later term abortions. Its also a huge decision factor that isnt discussed too much but is in the back of the minds of many women that would otherwise never have an abortion. They, and frankly a lot of men, want the option and the decision to be made between them and their doctor.

maybe people will figure out the rest of the democrats' policy lead to more death, despondency, and despair and pull their head out of their butt and choose not to have sex willy nilly.

Ding ding ding.

I said that inartfully in another post in this thread. It's not about "his" principles. It's about him trying to force his beliefs on everyone no matter what other people believe.

You are correct, sir. Do you remember a few months back when we had this discussion with a few other posters and how we were told abortion didn't matter to voters? I remember.

Using that logic it would've been even more morally wrong to go through Operation Olympic and fight on the ground which the Japanese would've done to the bitter end. Little Boy and Fat Man saved far more lives then they took.
