I am 50+ years old. It is a pretty deliberate task for me to do so as well. I literally bought an Apple watch to be able to leave the phone at home at times, knowing I would at least only be able to grab a call if it were important enough without being tempted to make one. Not to shite on Gen Z, but we fought something similar with Walkmans being used to check out. We just didn't have the internet to tell everyone about that "struggle" (and others). And that was a good thing in a lot of ways.

I’m in my early 50s and had to listen to the same dumb shite 40 years ago about how kids suck, lazy, and watch tv too much. I am somewhat strict about screens in my kids faces, especially for too long and being in their rooms. But I don’t think it’s a generation problem, it’s an every generation problem.

My dad was born in the late 40s, family moved to New Orleans off the family farm when he was a toddler. Even he had to listen to how lucky he was as a kid, didn’t grow up working hard on the farm, has electricity and all that I was thankful my dad didn’t give me hell about how all kids suck, but my friend’s parents, teachers, and other relatives did

That’s great. Most people, generation notwithstanding, are completely inseparable from their phone. Good for them for making an intentional effort to take a break
