In 3 years, only missed 3 games. 39.5 sacks including 17.5 last year. Also, a helluva run stopper. F'in Saints, 4 yr $60mill
Miss you Trey

Sean was imagining Davenport would be a force to reckon with eventually and let a proven sack machine go. Notice Sean won't be reaching out to Davenport to join his Broncos.

If you count postseason games missed, he missed at least that many in every single season with the Saints.
Unless you are trying to make the case that the Saints staff does a piss poor job with players in terms of treatment and avoidance of injury, then what is your point?
Or are you saying we should pretend the Saints should have known it would be different going forward for Trey?

People that hate themselves or hate the Saints make these post. Every single team constantly misses on players in the draft, free agency and in letting players go that do better on other teams.
See this thread. Three years ago and still red assed

there's also players that come to Saints and do alot worse...ala Jamaal Williams etc.

Well his TD's last year were almost all goal line scores. He was brought in to be the 3rd back with experience. I don't know what some were thinking we were getting.

He's getting paid like a split backfield starter.
Paying that much for a 3rd RB is pretty crazy and excessive. Those should be vet min or rookie contracts.

Glad we invested time and money in a slew of overdrafted oft-injured failures. The front office started piledrivinng the franchise into the ground in the later Brees years

The lack of use seems to suggest they just paid a lot of money for a "open in case of emergency" RB. I wonder what coach asked for him?

Saints fans are ridiculous. They belittle the front office for drafting and signing injury prone players every year. Hendrickson had one healthy year out of 4 and it was his contract year. He flashed at times but was always injured. Stayed healthy his last year and had one hell of a season. The smart thing was to let him walk considering what they had invested in that position already. Unfortunately for us Trey has stayed healthy and has gotten better. It sucks but we have had the same benefit with other players. Brees for instance. Miami didn’t want him. Chargers let him walk. He signed here. The rest is history. The truth is the saints made a calculated move. Just happened to backfire but leave it to Saints fans to have the luxury of hindsight.

I know some of you feel the need to defend every move the FO makes, especially against “message board GMs” but do you not see how foolish that is? Why would you pay anything over vet minimum for a “use in case of emergency” RB. If it was a team way under the cap that needed to get over the floor maybe but for a team way over, it’s nonsensical to play $8M guaranteed for a guy you don’t use. You can literally find guys off the street for that role. He ran for 1000 yds and 17 TDs for the Lions last year ans they let him walk. That should be a giant red flag.

They will be quick to “show receipts“ when they guess right, but will avoid threads when they guessed wrong

I think there is something to this. Don’t recall when it happened, but this team suddenly found themselves being one of the more injury prone teams in the league. Get too cocky and taking chances on too many guys w a history of injuries? Poor medical evaluations? Being more cautious than other teams? Change in nutrition and strength & conditioning? Combo of the above?

Sure. There are also guys who come here and improve. Davis is all world here.
Why do this to yourself?

The guy had ONE 600 yard season prior in his career with half of his career seasons having YPC below 4 ypc. His previous td high was 4.
He had one year of falling into the end zone with swift being hurt for most of year.

Kind of feel the same but then say that in the OP.

I can't figure it out TBH. However, it seemed they went from a team that got guys hurt and neutered their careers to a team that had players unable to play significantly more than when they went elsewhere. If this were a college team I'd be screaming for a different S&C coach but not sure how that works in the NFL.
