What’s the rule on switching teams?

When the Bengals were repeatedly losing in the playoffs, my wife wanted to switch to the Vikings (her dying grandmother's team, and one we cheered for with her).

I told her she could take no joy or pride in the Bengals if they ever won a Super Bowl.

We aren't die hard pro fans, so not really a big issue. But I still let her know about her switch

When your old team sucks and your new team is good.

Like dumping the bubble boy Fakers and cheering for the Dubs.

Switch when you want and how often you want. The sports teams rules are for miserable people. It's a game, enjoy it. With gambling especially, money knows no loyalty.

I have never seen the cowboys make it out of the second round in my entire life. And I would never switch.

For me...as a DC person...

Never had MLB but my father at one time lived near Ft. Myers so I was a Twins fan for a long time...but once DC got a baseball team they became my team. Lived in Chicago and had season tickets for the Cubs for the wife...so was happy when they won for her...

NBA - when they changed the name from the Bullets...I stopped caring

Redskins....it sucked...but I was ok with the Washington Football Team...but when they went to the Commanders, I picked my dad's, grandfather, etc team the Lions...but I know they will never mean what the Redskins meant at one time

Synder changing the name did it for me. He pretty much said in the past that he wouldn’t changed the name but when FedEx and other sponsors threatened to leave, he caved. That just added to the hate I already had for him. Haven’t found a team to replace them yet. Living in SC, never cared for the Falcons or Panthers.

Kinda need more than a micro-regional following first, huh?

Relocating or poor ownership.

If I live in Louisiana and move to Arizona, I’d probably stop following the Saints and Pels and start following the Suns and Cardinals. I don’t really see the point in rooting for a team that you can’t or don’t travel to see

Teams relocate cities, players and coaches change teams all the time. Whats the big deal of changing alliances as a fan?

Cheering for multiple pro teams from different cities if you haven't lived there is weird as shite.

Seems they represent their city well

What’s the rule on switching teams?

You need to go outside in freezing weather in a friend’s backyard after a playoff game.

If you survive, you’re good as gold and are considered a longtime fan of the new team.
