I saw the end of the Andover, KS tornado from a couple of years ago. We were downtown in Wichita at my daughter’s ballet recital. I got a text from a buddy telling me to get to the basement if we weren’t already there. My son and I left the recital to head back to the house and saw the tornado for about 2 minutes before it stopped.
No damage to my house, but my YMCA a mile down the road was toast. Neighbors sent me a photo of my house with the tornado in the background.

Lived in Bham, AL my whole life. Hard not to see one in that amount of time here.

Seen quite a few but have yet to experience firsthand [which is real fine by me]. Close enough to have heard a couple pass by.
Wildfires, however, will disarm one in a nanosecond - a few far too close for comfort

Yes
February 2016. We got a tornado warning and the wife went in the hall closet with the kid. I stayed by the window looking. Started hearing a rumbling and I stood there in disbelief until I saw it. I grabbed a couch cushion and joined them in the closet. My house was not directly impacted but a few of the houses down my street were completely destroyed. An RV park nearby took massive damage and fatalities.
It messed me up for a while.

Been close to one, but didn't actually see it. It was at night in central Louisiana.

Yes. I actually saw one from a commuter lot at LSU. Looks like it was tearing up a bunch of trees on the other side of the river past Brusly.
Saw another one in Mississippi a few years later that was bigger.

I have no interest in being anywhere near a major wildfire. I've seen a few smaller ones and I want nothing to do with them.

I’ve seen four in person, two of them were among the largest/strongest ever recorded. One was far too close for comfort.

Never have.
The guy mentions Cypress. Depending on the year I saw those. Not the actual funnel. Just very low clouds roll through that we’re starting to rotate.
This thread will send me down a wormhole on YouTube that will give me a nightmare.

Fun fact: the man for whom the tornado rating scale is named never saw one until late in his career.
Needed to hang with Reed Timmer.

A lot of Little Rock got to watch last years’. If you were in any of the tall buildings downtown or any of the hospitals, you had a front row seat to watch it wreck west Little Rock.

That was an extremely photogenic tornado, I passed through Andover shortly after it happened and saw the damage path.
Reed Timmer's drone footage from that storm is amazing.

I think OP means the weather tornado, not the gas station food

Yes. In Waskom, TX. At the time my wife and I lived in a double wide. The tornado crossed I-20 about 1/4 - 1/2 mile to the west of us. Every time the lightning would flash, you could see it.
Before it arrived I was standing on the porch and you could feel the pressure change and the wind stop and shift direction. It was pretty wild.

seen waterspouts that were pretty huge. Not seen a tornado, but had one hit my home last year.

Saw a decent sized waterspout once while fishing in the Gulf.
Me and a buddy were returning from the west end once and saw one just past the gulfstream about 10 miles from St Lucie. We drove right through the middle of it. How many chances do you get to do that in life? I have seen them a bunch but they usually do not last long enough to run down, this one was perfect. Why would you want to run through one you may ask. There is no answer for that...if you have to ask you can'y comprehend why...

Was listening to weather warning showing a tornado on the ground heading straight for us. Had a construction crew working outside my house. Ran outside and got them inside. The tornado went over my house a 30 seconds later and took the roof off my neighbors house across the street.

By the time it passed over us, it just seemed like very heavy rain and strong winds but I don't think it directly hit us. Scary stuff.
