Let me ask you, on early signing day do you not do those things?

We all do. But it was something special about going to the bash or having ESPN/CBS sports pulled up on your computer during work to see how your team did. It pretty much was the final event of college football for that said year. It’s why for a while it became a phenomenon compared to college basketball signing day.

Yes, I do but there are a lot of things going on in December. February (up north) is cold and dreary and that day always provided a little something to look forward to.

Honestly, it’s not really the same. And it’s quite easy to see it isn’t by simply looking at the fact the Bayou Bash is no more.

One of the best things to change in recruiting was the advent of the Dec signing period. You separate the sincere coaches and players from the pretenders. If a player wants to sign in Dec and the coach won't take it, guess what...you don't really have a scholarship offer. Little Nicky despised the early signing period because he couldn't string guys along any more hoping to find a better replacement. On the other side of the coin, if a player refused to sign in Dec, then he really wasn't a verbal you could count on. And in the second case, the school can then look around for a replacement and have 2 months to find one.

to the early signing period. Long may you reign!

No because, as he so proudly proclaims, he’s not a boomer.
