UVA
Do they have a football program? I didn’t notice if they did
UVa football is best described as a mix of Vanderbilt and Mississippi State.

The way college sports has morphed into inferior minor league sports is disappointing. I would be down with it crashing down.

Yeah Georgia tech brings absolutely nothing to the table. FSU, Clemson and UNC are the only schools worth looking at.
If you're gonna expand, I can see UNC and someone else. What do they bring?
Wins for Bama, UGA, Texas etc. You need W's for the power teams.
So you also want them to bring something else to the conference, UNC brings basketball.
You also want geographic continuity, for the other sports. Let the Big 10 try to figure out how UCLA plays Rutgers in softball and other sports. Teams are already exploring partial memberships in other conferences, for sports outside football there.
The SEC is still all sports, for the most part (I think Mizzou is Big 12 in wrestling for example).
If the Big 10 thinks they can add teams in the South, to go with their West Coast teams, let them play that game. it won't last.

Men’s soccer isn’t a thing, as Kentucky is in the Fun Belt for that one.

I hate expansion but it’s pretty obvious that UNC is the big prize for the SEC.

I said this would happen a while back. They are a good fit

Our president supports FSU joining the SEC. But I'm sure they'll take the coward way out again and join the B10.
I know ESPN doesn’t havethe money to pony up solo, at least not in the amount FSU is hoping.
And I don’t know if the triad has the capital to add FSU such that it pays the dividends the 4-Pac does.
Unless Clemson also leaves to make it a Two-Team package, FSU isn’t in the drivers seat anymore

I've never understood the lust for UVA or UNC other than hoops and feigned academic "prestige" which is never what the SEC has been about.
Yeah when I imagine an SEC education, academics don't come to mind.

This is the first time in the ACC-FSU dispute that the ACC has agreed to NEGOTIATE with the Noles, marking a big step forward for Florida State
So how much would FSU have to pay in a settlement? Many experts in the realignment field believe that it could cost the Noles UNDER $100M...
Why would the ACC agree to this?
quote:
B12 also could take up to 4 schools.
Talk about a conference rising from the ashes.

Not sure why anyone thinks having two power conferences with 20+ teams is good for college football.
Regionality is what made college football.
I hate it.
Penn State is still an outsider to me and they've been in the B1G for 30 years.

EVERY year there was a day,, now most days are just a game until the committee votes

GT bringing the BIG to the heart of the SES isn’t something y’all want. Recruits would get siphoned off. UGA definitely doesn’t want Ohio St, Mich, and ND playing in Atlanta every year.

Too bad the B1G doesn't want GT either. Maybe try your pitch to the AAC or Big 12.

Isn’t there a new play off contract that guarantees an auto bid to the ACC? If so, let FSU walk, get some money for it, invite a replacement school, and keep your auto bid.

VT is a great fit for the SEC. Absolutely passionate fans and top programs in the sports that matter and patriotic as hell. Think of a more normal A&M.
VT was a flash in the pan program for 20 years
Now that Frank is gone it’s in free fall and the passionate fans you speak of isn’t what it used to be especially with younger fans. VT at the end of the day is still are regional school in VA that exploded in popularity after MV7 but those years are over.

quote:Also, a ton of articles came out today stating the ACC wanted the trial in Florida thrown out (I believe this is the one the OP is referring to). They want to proceed with the lawsuit against FSU in North Carolina and it doesn’t sound like they are backing down at all. It is confusing.

They've already brought in the replacement schools for FSU and UNC leaving - it's why they added Stanford, Cal, and SMU.

Nothing helps your settlement position like having the upper hand in the litigation.
