LSU paid for a car and an apartment and like $300,000.

This right here tells you he has no clue.

And is the “apartment” East/West Campus Apartments where tons of athletes live?

To recap.. Things that are good for LSU.. I like. Things that are bad for LSU... Not so much.

It's normal to be happy when something good happens or sad when something bad happens.

It's a problem for some (not accusing you) who have no problem with NIL when it works out for LSU, but then out of the other side their mouth complain about how the sport is dying when a player takes the money elsewhere.

You either have a problem with NIL or don't, but you can't have it both ways.

You could make the argument that it wasn't right that coaches expect kids to make a 3-4 year commitment to them, only for them to bail without any consequence when their value was at its highest.

Just because it was what we were all used to doesn't mean it was right then and wrong now that what was normal no longer is.

There’s no way we paid that for a g5 WR.

If that were true, most of our roster would be millionaires.

Wait you think you know more about what CJ was paid than the coach who was trying to find the money to keep him?

How do you know the kid didn't embellish what he told Chadwell?

I doubt LSU paid 300k for a WR and couldn't get a good CB or DT to come here. You gotta be huffing paint to not see that.

I saw somewhere they both Smith and Wingo were offered 500k to come back for one year, and both declined.

There is a chance we offered the kid 150k and the apt and car though.

I hate NIL and the portal. However, as long as what was done was legal ... well coach just shut up.

the "coaches are bailing" bit is getting overblown big time by the media. The ones that shouldn't be running those positions are leaving, that's it. I like how nobody talked like this when O'Brein decided to be a HC at BC.

There is no easy mode anymore. They need to get off their asses and work for those millions. The guys that are good CEOs will reign supreme.

There's a major lawsuit waiting to happen that goes well beyond title 9. Things will eventually change. Things will either be regulated back down to an ameutuer level or you'll have minor league football and men's basketball for sure. We are living in an Era of absolute stupidity and it will rightfully end.

It’s not true. The apartment expenses are covered by his scholarship check where he probably stays with the rest of the football players. I’m positive he got some NIL to sign which may have helped pay for a car.

you could make the argument that coaches were paid professionals under contracts, and those contracts have huge buyouts to be fired or leave on their own.......and kids were under a scholarship they also committed to. all im saying is the NIL along with free movement doesn't seem to be the fix. one or the other will likely be regulated to some degree. only time will tell. what are in, year 3 of this?

Or LSU and just about every other major program. They all paid players before it was legal.

I simply do not believe that LSU or any LSU-related entity paid that kid $300K + to come to LSU.
