You also need ground game, lawyers, poll watchers, etc to compete with Dems. This is arguably more important than ads.
And yes people know Trump. But ad money is very important for down ballot races to push lesser known candidates. Trump as president is useless with a R Congress

The amount of money circulating it our elections is out of fricking control. It is a uniquely American problem. And it IS a problem.
