Just saw the trailer. Wow! Does anyone know if this is a movie or a series?

It’s a series. It looks promising.

If done right, will be a huge fav on this board. Unfortunately if done right the average person will be too stupid to understand most of the first act.

I seen the thirty episode of the Amazon version. Not bad, I read the book afterward. Its gets real Sci-Fi ish and I can't wait to see how that is done.
I am okay for the changes made for the western audiences. In this cause the DEI. Keep in mind this book was written under a communist regime. For those that don't know every single piece of media has to pass through the government before it is published or made.
The original book had every foreigner as "evil" all non chinese are dumb or not as smart as their asian counter part. And that women should know their place in the long run and if you dont you frick everyone over.
So yeah, much better adapted for a western audience.

Watched the trailer last night and honestly couldn't follow what the hell was going on lol. But it did look interesting. Plus it has Eiza Gonzalez, so I'll stare at the screen if she's on it

The books are amazing. Legit awesome books and that’s coming from someone who’s not a big reader. I got sucked in.

Book reader here. Impressed with the first episode
Not real fired up how they’re portraying my favorite character, Luo Ji (black stoner scientist). Going to take some getting used to

Just finished it. I also read the trilogy so I was scared that this wouldnt live up to the books. I thought they did a really good job. Yes, they westernized the characters but I don't have any issue with that.
Show and Book Spoilers:
1) The nanofiber attack on the boat was cool as frick. I had no idea how they were going to depict that visually and it was better than I could have imagined.
2) They should have spent more time explaining the sophons. They should have spent time diving deep into the creation of them - especially the consequences of their failed deployments to Trisolaris.
3) Really enjoyed all the bug references throughout the show but I do not like how they handled the 'You are bugs' scene. I'm not sure what they could have done differently but reading that in the book gave me chills.
Overall thought they did a phenomenal job and looking forward to the Dark Forest adaptation.

Just started this a couple nights ago., and I’ll preface this by saying I have zero knowledge of the books, and how closely it does/doesn’t follow them, but I’ve really been enjoying it so far. About half way through. However it does strike me as being one of those series that has the potential to go off the rails, but so far I’m digging it. It’s also a lot more graphic than I expected it to be.
Benedict Wong is great. His character is easily my favorite.

Finished it yesterday. Very underwhelmed. I have not read the books. IF I had perhaps I would feel differently about it.

I’m on episode 3 and liking it. I hear it starts to take off after this point. I did start reading the first book so up to this point a lot of it is coming back to me. However, I never finished so I don’t know when I will be totally out of the loop. I need to find the books and pick them back up. I just had a hard time keeping up with characters because I couldn’t remember the Chinese names and who was who. I’m just a simple white man, I need characters with names like Mark, Susan and Peter.

Finishing the last episode now and I’ll have to admit it was a lot better than I expected it to be. Going off the previews and reading a few comments about it, I wasn’t expecting a legit sci-fi series. I’m glad I was wrong about it.

Started watching.
Definitely not a ringing endorsement of Communist China.

Question for the book readers.
Why aren't all the best scientists in the world working on a way to communicate telepathically instead of nuking a brain into space? Seems like that would be more useful and eliminate the need for Wallfacers to keep their ideas in their heads.

Just finished and I have questions.
Why was Saul chosen, and once he declined, why is he being treated as if he did not?
How do the headsets appear and where do they originate?
Just a comment on the concept(s)...if they can pull off a plan now, then they could surely pull that same plan off in the future if they had to. Why spend resources now on such a plan instead of a slower build to better, more advanced tech that will surely come within the 400 year time frame?
