Scanning and weighing things on that beat to shite kiosk then bagging them in ultra thin bags on a 2' x 2' bagging station is stress I don't fricking need

Walmart by me has self checkouts with full length belts and a full bagging area that lets you put the bags on your buggy before paying. And all the produce scans. Their self checkouts are the easiest to use.

Oh, I get it. Inferior products for convenience. It’s very similar to the justification people make to eat fast food over cooking something at home. It’s faster, easier and many times cheaper. That doesn’t mean it’s not a poor choice.

My options, unless I want to drive a decent way, are…

Walmart grocery with all self checkouts, where if there is a line, it moves fast

Breaux Mart, which has terrible selection and at times lack of cashiers

Winn Dixie, which has no self checkouts, assuredly high prices, and long lines due to lack of cashiers

Walmart Supercenter, which has hardly any cashiers, half the self checkouts are broken, and insane lines filled with the average 9th ward customer

We typically go once a month to a meat market in MS, every two weeks to Sams and Rouses. Then because some stuff won’t last two weeks, we get anything else at Walmart grocery usually.

Sounds like the kind of you hire then find a spot for him. I can teach the job but I can't teach effort.

Wal Mart isn't even cheap. I pay less for my groceries in Portland (combo of Trader Joe's and Winco) than people in rural Missouri pay at Wal Mart.

winco is the tits for cheap groceries.

They will lose business on this. People are much more resistant to new subscriptions than their models are telling them

I like using self checkout because it allows me to avoid interacting with people at walmart. I also only go early in the morning when it's least busy.

Only dumb poors would rather have to interact with a cashier over breezing though Self Checkout.

Walmart+ is a great AMEX perk. I don't shop actively shop there but they do have free delivery within a few hours if I ever need something on gameday and I don't feel like leaving the house

I actually like Walmart+, it’s very convenient. Also get it free with AMEX but I wouldn’t pay for it

So your box of Cheerios or pack of Kraft cheddar is somehow different at other stores? We don't buy everything at Walmart but 90% of stuff for sure.

When we talk about different foods we are talking mainly about produce and meat quality.

Packaged products like that should be the minority of items in your cart. We aren't concerned about that.

The difference in a bell pepper at walmart vs. albertsons is noticeable.

Ya'll are some judgey mother frickers. This is about the viability of a pay for self-checkout. Not for you bitches to judge our carts.

Unless you live in a place that this is the only close and reasonable option.

Some stores have special lanes for Walmart + customers. But they still have the regular self checkout lanes.

I think you read the article wrong.

How many places is Walmart the only close and reasonable option? I don't know of a single Walmart that is the only option, not saying it doesn't exist, but it's definitely a very small percentage.

Not only don’t they want to pay an employee to check us out, but they want us to pay them so that we can do it ourselves?

This would actually guarantee that they have to pay an employee to check you out if you do not want to do Wal-Mart Plus.
