1 snake, 2 of my dogs got bit. One is doing fine, but at the vet overnight and has had 2 viles of antivenom. The other is critical and is working on bag 3 of antivenom. Nothing else we can do but sit here and hope.

They both got bit down by the pond, spent an hour down there looking for that bastard and nothing.

$7,000 in so far and I'm not even sure we get both our boys back. One is a German shorthair pointer, he's doing ok. The other is a Yorkie, he is not.

Here's to hoping the yorkie pulls through. If he does there's a chance he may be a super dog as far as snake bites go. I know of a Jack Russell that there probably isn't a wild snake on this continent that could take him out. He got popped the first time and pulled through with the help of a vet. The second time they just left it up to fate and he recovered fine on his own. He's gotten popped at least four times since that they know of and hasn't had any real issues. He gives every snake he sees hell now, like it is his sole mission in life.

I hope your boy makes it.

Jesus man.

I've had quite a few dogs get popped by cotton mouths before but I've never spent thousands. I've had beagles make it through, labs always make it and has Walkers make it.

Hate to play Monday morning QB man but your pointer was almost for sure always gonna make it. Good luck with the yorkie but idk if I'd sink much more into that bud, you might be chasing your tail there man

I was way off before I edited this post. That price is inline with new info I looked up.

Where you located?

I’m pretty good at finding cottons (I’ve caught 84 in the past 3 years).

And my best friend is a Yorkie.

7k ????...a dog dying from a snake bite seems like a honest and natural death for a dog...

Been here with one of mine. Multiple vials of antivenin. Took a strike right on top of his head, just behind his left eye. Only thing I feel I should add, is there pet hyperbaric chamber anywhere local? Since my incident I've seen some shocking results with that treatment.

Actually, if your dog starts 3rd spacing fluids, don't hesitate to switch to hetastarch. Feel free to bring that up ahead of time lol. That's directly from my experience.

Yorkie isn't doing great, headed for another 500 bag of antivenom.

Prayers for your dogs. Lost my first dog to a snake bite. She was a big dog but the snake got her right on the snout and hit the artery that leads to the brain. She fought for a week but ultimately passed. Hoping yours pull through.

Good luck man. I'm guessing rattlesnake? Dogs can usually get over cottonmouth bites with some benadryl.
