Saints almost never draft Tigers

Since 2000, LSU has had a total of 126 players drafted into the NFL. Of that 126, the Saints have taken only 3 players.

Yeah they have a hard on for Ohio St players for some reason

While this is true, at least Devery Henderson and Randall Gay get to say they started on a natty team at LSU and a Super Bowl team for the Saints. That’s badass.

5 total picks would get them to 1/32nd. Not sure skipping on 2 players in 24 total drafts is juicy conspiracy material
But on that note, consider when the bulk of those drafted players came through - Miles era. Payton would know as well as anyone how raw and under-developed our guys were. OSU was more of the opposite

Sometimes players getting a ton of money in there home state can be perceived as a problem
Although with NIL this point is now moot. Hopefully they digress from the OSU love fest

It's a franchise trying to make the best decision with a 21 or 22 year old... it's best to get someone who may not have bad influencers around the corner.

126 LSU players divided by 32 teams would mean an expected draft load of 3.9 LSU players per NFL team.
So in the last 20+ years, the saints drafted less than 1 full LSU player less than expected.
IDK, given that ratio, “almost never” feels like the wrong classification here

Lots of LSU players that have actually been on the Saints radar these past 20 years, were probably drafted before the Saints got a chance to take them. Saints are usually a middle to later pick in the 1st round and in drafts period. Saints and LSU have both had their golden years the past 20 years. So lots of LSU players are drafted by average teams, for the most part.

They almost never draft Clemson players also. Whats your point?
You can do this with most schools.

Edit: I also downvoted you for starting the same thread in Saints Talk.

Watch the draft flow. There is always a player of note drafted right before Saints pick in latter rounds. It's happened multiple times.

Gooooood, crap organization doesn't need to ruin young Tigers lives

I’m pretty sure there are numbers that prove that the Saints are middle of the pack among NFL teams in regards to drafting LSU players

in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter as those players are still getting nfl opportunities
only thing it does for saints, is maybe you sell a few more tickets to a game
I seriously doubt the Saints would have passed on Joe Burrow had they had the #1 pick that year
saints have always had some odd ball first round selections as well, some have worked and some haven't

LSU players have a bad rep with NFL trainers/gms. I used to live next to an atlanta falcon trainer near ATL. He said LSU players are the most difficult to train because they have the biggest egos. True story

More inportantly, we need to get Gail Benson to contribute to our NIL fund

126 / 32 teams 3.93 players for a team
Statically I am assuming this is within standard deviation and there is not mathematical support for your claim that Saints avoid LSU players

Did you just make this groundbreaking observation? Have you been living under a rock? This has been a known and discussed thing for decades.
