Eh, maybe they could be another mediocre sec school. I would bet the majority that go to ULL or tech just didn't get into LSU or with the right scholarship. Kids that go out of state usually come from wealthy families who can afford to guide their child away from one of the worst states in the country. Saying this as a long time BR resident. LSU is good for a good college life, broad selection of majors, and decent job opportunity out of school. It's location probably impacts it a little, but also makes it what it is.

That's possible, but I have noticed a shift in local kids not wanting to go to LSU. Maybe it's just the trendy thing at the moment, but I can tell you a ton of BR kids will be heading to UL and Tech in August.

These are great kids who could get into most state schools and they are actively choosing Lafayette and Ruston. It's definitely a thing, I'm just not sure if it's because it's the cool thing to do or they just don't like LSU.

That's definitely true for the majority of kids. Perhaps it's anecdotal but I know a handful of kids who picked Tech or ULL for their well known programs (their engineering schools rank lower but are in roughly the same tier as LSU). I just wanted to see if it was a huge deterrent to LSU getting g those top tier kids. Most of the kids I'm referring to are 3.5+ ACT 25+.
