NIL deals can absolutely work like that. If Todd Graves wants to give Cream Abdul (Robby Avila) a deal, he doesn’t care if he plays for Indiana State or St Louis
The question wasn't, "What can these deals look like?" That answer is obviously, "Virtually anything."
The question was, "What do these contracts typically look like?"
Todd Graves is also the exception, not the rule, when it comes to NIL and major FB and MBB. Cane's is an expanding national brand, and he uses NIL at least somewhat strategically.
The vast majority of major FB and MBB NIL are funded through school-specific collectives with minimal commercial or philanthropic promotion.
