Interesting. I was envisioning some kind of small special forces like team or teams with air cover. To be clear, I don't know the geography or their capability at all, just wondering if they couldn't even do that. In the original post I wasn't quite clear if they didn't really have ground forces or if they were so limited they aren't really an option.

Given how secure the Natanz facility is, I just don’t know how it would work without a suicide mission.

Natanz is hundreds of miles deep into Iran. Almost dead center if you look at it on a map.

Maybe Israel could knock out air defenses long enough to insert a small group, but nothing that could mount a large assault on Iran’s most secretive and defended nuclear facility. And that’s before getting to Iran’s military on the ground.

Putting in a force that large would almost certainly require a conventional invasion of troops. Israel doesn’t really have the numbers or military set up for that. Their capabilities and quality is very good, but the IDF is a relatively small force that doesn’t have power protection options. Iran is a country of 90,000,000.

That’s what I was thinking of also when I said “boots on the ground.”
