re: 11 years ago today, Boston looked like this

We were in Boston that week, staying in a Copley Square hotel. My wife and I had taken a walk down to the finish line area, we were in the hotel lobby when all hell broke loose. Has heard the booms, everyone got a panicked look. within minutes we were in lockdown, then they asked us to go to our rooms. We were told later that accommodations were available at other hotels, if we stayed we would be essentially confined to our rooms indefinitely. We grabbed just what we could carry and were taken to another hotel. They brought our luggage later.
On the North end we could walk around, then Thursday we couldn't leave the hotel. Friday was crazy, watched it all on TV, sirens everywhere, armed people everywhere. Then they got the bastards and it was like the Sox had won the series. Through the ordeal the people of Boston were great, most visitors had left by Tuesday, we were able to get home on Saturday.

The entire day was like a climactic scene from a 90s action movie.
They made a movie about it called Patriot's day. Pretty good too.

Thank goodness Mark Wahlberg was there to save the day in multiple jurisdictions.

Once we could leave we went to dinner and on the way back to the hotel, there was a massive crowd in the Common cheering for all the police as they went by. It was a spontaneous parade, basically. American flags everywhere.
The literal definition of a "False-Flag" event. To be clear, though, I don't believe this is a conspiracy. Jist shows how everyone rallies around the flag when something "bad" happens. The 3 letter agencies are up to something nefarious EVERY DAY

Shut up, bitch.

The cordon and search of neighborhoods in the United States of America, where police pointed guns at people who were standing on their own front porch. Very Constitutional. Good times.
And then, of course, the guy was located by - yep, you guessed it - not the police, but a citizen.

like the people who were for the Iraq War/Patriot Act in the mid-00s
This was nearly everyone after 9/11.
What I remember most from the Boston Marathon bombing was a discussion on militarization of local police through military surplus sales. I don't have a problem with that. Much better than leaving it all in Afghanistan.

11 years later, half of democrats would support the terrorist

Only half?

We had some good debates that week about the Constitutional implications of a law enforcement lockdown of Boston. I don’t remember what position I took, but I know I was correct, lol.

I was glued to the tv for those days after the bombing. The manhunt was exciting stuff.

I think the scanner link was on here for the night they got the guy in the boat. Cops on open mics. Sneaking up on the yard giving positions then seemed like 30 seconds of gunfire. Good times.

Awful take. Read the militarization of police by Radley Balko. Civil asset forfeiture is the foundation for that practice.

I know what position I took, and it's the same I have today, which I think is kosher for the board now. However like I said earlier that changes every couple of years.

Were you even an adult during 9/11?

We joined in, drank beers with strangers, and shook hands with every cop that passed. It was one of the most memorable nights of my life.
As a people, we can go from "everybody hates everybody" to "these colors don't run" pretty quickly.

Exactamundo.

The background of the terrorist that day was interesting as well. "Wealthy" family that was on the tit. Then the media glorified him after his arrest as some kind of hero.
Great memory.
The alleged "terrist" family profile was definitely "interesting" (as was all of the follow up).
The evidence suggests every single facet of that day, the entire script, drill and theater was certainly a Top 3 of most shameless FF Po-Po exercise and op ever perpetrated upon Team USA.
Predictable that the corrupt asset-media as usual would also help reinforce the overall illusion while romanticizing the looks of another "bad-guy" anti-hero murderer.

Define adult
I was in college but many would say I was not an adult

What a mind-boggling reminder / scene of the malignant, residual Patriot Act impact of 9II...
This constituted THE most outrageous, unnecessary and over-officious scene and harbingers of constitutional violations of (supposed) American freedom & rights EVER.
American taxpaying citizens: Invaded NOT by a foreign occupiers but by a special para-military force backed by armor who actually threatened the citizenry at gunpoint. An absolute disgrace.
WHY again?
Oh, that's right; because normal LE protocol has always been to shut-down major US cities by declaring Martial Law; THEN call in spec ops platoons backed by armor and choppers to run rough-shod through residential neighborhoods...in order to chase & hunt down fugitives scampering through neighborhood.
OH WAIT.
