LOL kids.

Bro…once they started getting paid they ceased being amateurs/kids.

Fair game for real life and the criticisms that come with it.

I believe I also called him "a depth piece". So in addition to special teams player, I also thought he could spell/be a substitute in certain situations at LBer, thus worth a scholarfship. But yes, I said he wouldn't start. I stick with my evaluation. BTW, you need to ask the other "experts" who bragged about his speed and can't wait to see him at LBer when he is hell and back too light to play LBer without putting on a bunch of weight.

No, Damone Clark is a great example of how a bad coach can make a bad player look bad.

Clark had a good season in a backup role in 2019. He was often getting sacks, making impact plays, and generally causing havoc. Expectations for him were high going into 2020.

Then Ed Orgeron decided he was going to bless LSU and the entire football world with access to his vast coaching knowledge and ability by finally discarding Aranda's pussy 3-4 defense and implementing his "attacking" 4-3 defense that Russell Maryland and Warren Sapp exceled in....apparently forgetting that took place 30 years prior! The result was one of, if not the worst defenses in LSU football history (at least until this past season). Suddenly, guys who were pretty good players a year before looked awful and completely lost. Most notably Clark.

Did Clark suddenly forget out to play football in the span of one offseason? Or did the terrible defensive approach/scheme mandated by the HC make him appear to be a bad player?

Clearly it was the latter. How do we know this? Because LSU's defense as a whole became remarkably better in the 2021 Alabama game. Was that simply the result of every guy on defense suddenly fully understanding Ed's "dream defense" all at once? Or was it the fact LSU completely changed their defensive approach starting in that game? The answer is obvious to everyone except those wanting to ignore what their eyes showed them (kind of like the OP in this instance). And there was NO greater example of the impact of finally getting away from Ed's ridiculous defense than Clark. All of a sudden a guy who had struggled for a year and a half became one of the best LBs in the SEC. Clark had 15 TFLs that season. Over HALF of them came in the final 4 games of the season beginning with the Alabama game. He had 5.5 sacks. All but ONE came in those final four games. Clark didn't suddenly improve. He was always a good player. He was just able to show that once more when the road block named Ed Orgeron got out of his way.

A guy like Ryan is different. Unlike Clark did in 2019, he's never shown great ability in 3 years. And that showed up again literally 5 plays into the spring game with a familiar scene of him helplessly running to catch up to a WR 10 yards behind him in the endzone who was planning a duck-duck-goose celebration while he comfortably waited for the ball to fall into his arms.

Ryan is a "tweener". Not big nor physical enough to be a safety. Not quick or instinctive enough to be a corner. It happens.

Explain to me the differences between the Houses scheme and Bakers scheme. Oh wait, you can't because you just repeat nonsense you heard on TD.

We played Cover 3 and Cover 4 last year to attempt to limit the big plays since our safeties and DBs were awful and we had 0 DL play. This year, we played Cover 2 and Cover 3 ONLY during the Spring game. And guess what? Still looked like shite.

I love how we go from blaming House, to now blaming Kelly but skip over Baker.

When are yall going to realize we just have shitty players right now, and O really screwed this team long term when he hired that other idiot.

Coach Kelly is whistling past the graveyard on both Burns and Ryan. They are vets and experienced but not SEC quality. He’s not gonna tell everybody they are both crap when the young guys aren’t ready to step up yet. Unfortunately, because he and his houseboy did a crappy job recruiting DBs, he needs them to at least be serviceable for the first half of the season.

There are some that like Kelly because he shoots straight. I say not all of the time, scooter. I say he has had his share of coach speak these past three years, too. It’s neither good or bad, but coaching reality.

Because I wasn’t interested in them. You are still stereotyping all women to make up for your failings with them.

True

That being said, it was also the worst coaching job in LSU history on the defensive side of the ball.

I don’t disagree, but calling CBK a liar doesn’t compute for me. Perhaps they are actually being coached up.

Sage Ryan made plays all spring long according to the reports and Kelly and Burns is comfortable in his new “Star” position role

He also said he was the best tackler in the defensive backfield. yet every week missed routine tackles on numerous occasions.

I said it last year and I’ll say it again:
If Burns is the best you have, then you suck. I’m sure he’s a great human, and I’ve got nothing against him personally, but I’ve watched him play for the last 86 years at LSU and unless they replaced his arms, legs, and football IQ with cybernetics over the spring, he is bottom-tier in the SEC.

Sorry but It is what it is…

Y'all do realize it wasn't just Sage and Burns that was horrible last year. We had zero pass rush, we couldn't stop the run and the secondary scheme left a lot to be dired. And the spring game was so vinalla with no scheme what so ever. So how you know Kelly is lying?

You just cant have the last line of defense, safeties and DBs, afraid of contact and at best try to arm tackle. Yet, when a tackle (or actually what I call a trip up) did occurred 15 yds downfield, we saw a lot of cackling and strutting from both. That was inexcusable.
