How Likely Is Trump to Go to Prison? What Would That Look Like? Reporter Breaks it Down

A NYT reporter broke down a handful of other cases with falsifying business records charges and here’s what he found (article is still behind paywall):
-Only 1 in 10 cases resulted in confinement.
-The average prison sentence was 6 months.
-The defendants in these cases were also charged with other felonies (Trump is only facing falsifying records charges).
However he opines that in all cases the falsification involved much less money than Trump’s, which arguably aggravates his crimes more if he is convicted.
If convicted, the author believes that Trump will serve 3-6 months in NY State prison, entirely under solitary conditions accompanied only by a limited secret service detail.
I would be curious to know if house arrest is an option depending on the length of the sentence. It seems a little much to send a former president to prison for what is essentially a white collar crime.

I imagine it would look something like this

still waiting for the actual crimes...

I am reporter from North Carolina
My findings are Trump will be free to go based on the facts of the case, "It's been too bang long ago"

Would look like this

I’d think they would issue a sentence of house arrest and a SIGNIFICANT fine, it’s the judges discretion in most cases that are successfully prosecuted and more then often they issue jail time, however, just a fine is an option. So it’s possible they only fine him.

He is charged with incorrectly describing an expense in a company the he himself owns. That is the so-called “crime.” The whole thing is fricked up beyond belief.

How many of those cases involved a former president currently running for reelection who would then be able to appeal which would drag out well past the actual election?

The SS is not allowing a former president to be in jail. This is stupid.

He's not going to prison. If he wins the election, all this shite goes away.
If he loses, they drop most of it all. If he decides to run again in 2028 then they will fire it up again.

0%. They don't have the balls.

Does it have to be a unanimous jury? If so, maybe there is at least 1 morally decent person on the jury that realizes this is a sham trial.

Are you kidding me. He'll get the maximum allowable sentence.

6 months
Just enough to get past the election (assuming the trial runs in to early May).
