I'm not convinced either way but I do find it strange that we never went back. I feel pretty confident that had we gone once we'd continue to go back until we made the moon a de facto US territory.

We did go back. There were multiple moon landings. Each trip cost billions of dollars. Eventually the "been there done that" mentality took over and funding was cut. The "WeLL wHy HaVeN't wE gOnE bAcK!?" argument is moronic.

I straddle this for sure. The whole "we lost the technology" excuse is just laughable to me. I'm not sure I buy that narrative even 1%.
