Coming soon to other Troops.

WAFB - Full Story

GRAY, La. (WAFB) - Louisiana State Police Troop C announced it is launching an enforcement campaign targeting illegal dark window tint and license plate coverings on vehicles.

Troopers stated the campaign’s goal is to ensure compliance with state regulations and enhance public safety. Concerns about the dangers of excessively darkened windows, which impair visibility for drivers, pedestrians, and law enforcement officers, prompted this initiative. Additionally, in hit-and-run incidents, obscured license plates hinder vehicle identification, complicating investigations and delaying justice for victims.

I have 5 % all the way around, but my vehicle is not registered in Louisiana.

Are state vehicles exempt from this law? I ask, because I see many police vehicles with 5 % all the way around.

Yea

I believe they are. So are the state vehicles the officials roll around in. If the car has exempt tags it would have to kill someone to get pulled over.

Nice to see law enforcement going after the big crime problems in this state

How about they go after all the obvious fake temp tags and uninsured drivers?

Yea my biggest issue with tint is the police can have blacked out windows and it’s somehow safe but others can’t.

Holden's denied me a break tag because of my window tint.

No I roll up with the windows down to get a break tag.

I always wonder why they would not just pass a law where if you get pulled over, you have to roll your windows down.

If the driver does not roll windows down, it’s another citation on whatever ticket they’re getting.

Window tint is a phenomenal thing for South Louisiana vehicles. Refusing it for everyone is corporal punishment.

Window tint enforcement in a state that allows law enforcement to order the driver from a vehicle in addition to concealed carry of handguns without a license is nothing more than a money grab.

Window tint also helps deter the theft of weapons from vehicles. You know, the kind of weapons used in most homicides.

Hail, hail Highway Patrol. Those six figure salaries to inspect tread tires on big rigs don’t pay themselves.

We have 5% on our vehicles but my wife has a light sensitivity so we get an exemption letter. I can't have a vehicle without it now.

Not being able to see a driver does make it a bit harder to determine their intent at a 4 way stop or some other intersection, esp as everyone knows and obeys traffic laws...

I know when i ride in a friend's car with heavy tint, it makes night driving a bit more interesting...
