That's just an accent. Some parts of the country pronounce "lawyer" as "loy-yer"

I grew up with a girl named Sawyer (SAW-yer), she enjoyed working with wood.

Why not leave it alone and just let it be a last name? There is no special honor in naming a girl a suspect boy name or naming a boy by a last name for his first name. Tom Sawyer did not name his son Sawyer Sawyer.
