^^^ this. ^^^

And you can thank corrupt GOP leaders like Turtle and Ryan for abandoning conservatives in exchange for the indulgences they received

Of course you can. You would. I would too. Milei is doing it now in Argentina.

To do it in the US, you most likely have to NOT CARE about the threats against your life, or the lives of family members, if you do.

Then I guess you'll have to contend with the reality (according to your claim) that Trump chose not to the first time around.

I don't think that's what happened. I think he found out that you really can't. Not by yourself. I don't know how much power the president of Argentina has, but I understand the powers of the POTUS.

For example, I think someone pulled him aside after him talking about eliminating entire departments of the federal government and explained to him that so many people are employed by the government that significantly reducing it would cause an economic recession for the whole country.

Which is why his net reductions ended up being something like 2%.

That's what I think.

You apparently think he just made an empty campaign promise he had no intention of keeping because...I have no idea why. You'll have to fill that part in. The part where Trump benefitted somehow by not making good on that promise.

The problem the Tea Party ran into is there wasn’t much to cut, except things voters want (SS/Medi, and local pet pork projects).

Yep. Cut all discretionary spending to $0 and it won’t balance the budget.

Interesting thing mentioned in the article - Tea Party was at its peak in about 2012... we ended up with a reboot version of Newt (who was really just grifting) and Santorum as the alternatives to Romney once Cain faded into obscurity

Would have been a good opportunity for a conservative to grab the torch.
Probably one of the most easily winnable elections in the modern era except for… Romney being the nominee. 2024 shpuld be even easier. But once again we have a nominee that’s going to make it competitive.

If you want fiscal responsibility then elect senators and reps that are just that.

Congress controls the purse, not a president.

That's basic constitutional knowledge for a 6th grader.

The Tea Party never actually accomplished anything noteworthy. They all went to DC and the status quo reigned

Sure he does.

He built them up last time what makes you think he will do it THIS time?

He's going to have to undo a bunch of shite he helped fund. He don't have it in him.

When does president submit his budget?

Who signs these spending bills?

I understand your desire to clear Donny of anything he did wrong, but you gotta start being honest at some point.

The "base" of the Tea Party was completely full of shite and really just acting out at the end of the day. So many of them became MAGA which has nothing to do with fiscal restraint.

That's where you're wrong. Fiscal restraint will never happen as long as the corrupt uni-party controls DC. The first step towards sane fiscal policy is to topple the corrupt globalists making the decisions.

Way overly exaggerated.

The primary issue is a lack of leadership.

Republicans lost the tea party movement by only being fiscally conservative when democrats were in power.
