Honestly, screw it, money is probably better off spent in the black market away from the real crooks.

I watched a good portion of the hearing this morning. It was actually pretty pathetic. Lots of grandstanding over protecting children while ignoring any argument about it already being illegal for anyone to buy or consume under the age of 21 and ignoring any question asking them to explain why this should be treated any differently than alcohol.

Everyone against this bill was vocally open to amending legislation to change how THC is packaged (changing the number of “servings” allowed in a single package type), etc, yet nearly everyone in favor grandstanded about packaging while voting in favor of the full ban. It was a pretty terrible display.

I am in Alabama and just ordered some easy hemp company sparkling water today. It has 3 mg of THC. I’m truly shocked that I can buy this in Alabama.

I think the deal is that if they are extracting the THC from hemp, which has a very small amount of naturally occurring THC, it's okay even if they are using that extracted THC to fortify some other product, like an edible.

It's basically a loophole in the law. There is also a chemical difference between Delta 8 THC and Delta 9 THC, the latter is the THC you get from normal pot. In some states, Delta 8 THC is still legal and is often paired with CBD.

I was in NC lately and saw them selling this stuff in a vape shop and asked how they could do it, and that's what the guy told me.

The bill would make illegal any consumable product with any measurable amount of THC, period. Delta 8, Delta 9, anything. Blanket ban.

How about they kick all of these illegals I see everywhere out of the state that are mooching off of our tax dollars and putting jack shite back in instead of worrying about what their constituents choose to spend their money on.

At the end of the day, people in La are going to do what a lot of other people do and buy from elsewhere and bring back to La. Stopping locals from capitalizing on this is just an unnecessary shot in the foot.

A state that ranks 50th in most metrics…. I’m glad to see our lawmakers are focusing on the really important issues.

It's more social conservative crap Landry can't tout as a "win" while continuing to do little to nothing to improve the state's abysmal economic status/business climate.

Basically it's "on brand".
