Jimmy is God. He controls the airwaves man. He knows when you are listening. He can make your transistor radio overheat and cause you to miss the action. He just acts like he is senile. It is all part of the plan. Jimmy is going to be broadcasting the games long after you and I are gone. He will always be the Voice of the Tigers. Don't mess with the Jimmy. He knows where you live man.

Jim may have once been great. But, that doesn't mean he still is. And, some of you being Tiger fans for 50 years doesn't make him a good announcer either. He's a great Tiger who should have hung it up 5 years ago.

You couldn't call the game any better!!! Leave Jim alone, he bleeds P&G!!

My favorite Hawthorne move is to turn the broadcast into him vs the umpires/refs or official scorers. He will spend 2 hours discussing an error ruling vs a hit just to make himself seem smarter and I guess give the listening audience something to bond with him over.

Yeah, I love when he goes off on a tangent about a rule or fundamentals.

One guy can't put down a successful bunt, and he bitches and moans for the rest of the game about it. And I also hate how he eats during the baseball games. ATTENTION JIM: We can tell you have a mouth full of hot dog when you are talking. You aren't THAT good...

Another good one is when he makes a mistake and he tries to explain why he made the mistake.

I can't wait until basketball season is over and he gets stuck doing all the baseball games. I'm looking forward to his first 4 hour Tuesday night game/bitchfest.

Hawthorne's problem with baseball is that he hardly ever wants to be there.

I think his major problem is his vision. I don't think he sees well enough to call baseball.

That may actually be my biggest pet peave...him and Charlie will argue the whole game about this sometimes, when it has ZERO efect on the game.

Exactly. Jim tries too hard to look like a 'baseball guy'

Hawthorne is an icon - and he does well enough to coast as long as he wants. Pity, the morons here can't be subjected to the same abuse they so willingly wish on Hawthorne.

Over and over it's the new guys or younger guys who want to knock Hawthorne. And who, pray tell, would you replace him with - that pitiful Deke fool in New Orleans or thoroughly useless kiss up Charles Hanagriff.

I am sure there are some talks about who gets the gig when he leaves on his own terms - I don't see anyone around that is ready to fill his considerable shoes.

Hawthorne knows the game - anyone who has spent any real time discussing Baseball with him off the air truly knows that. Of course this precedes all the thousands who became fans after they started winning National Championships and not those that could easily get seats behind home plate back in the early 80s.

You I would not consider to be a true fan of LSU. You have a "LOT" of friends who are fans of other Universities. This alone makes your opinion useless.

not really

like ruining the biggest call of his career by confusing a black guy with a pale white guy?

by calling the student section "these idiots" when he thought he was going to be trampled to death at the Arizona basketball game?

by melting down on nearly every football broadcast the past few years?

Abuse we wish on Hawthorne? I don't want to abuse the guy. I think he sucks at calling LSU football and baseball games. He chose that public job, and with that comes potential ridicule.

When I do something shitty at my job, I hear it from my boss and teammates. How is this any different?

I've been listening since the late Ferguson days, so does that qualify me to talk here??? Hawthorne sucks and is an old whiny bitch.
