Hannagriff + Coogan > Hawthorne + Hanagriff
Hawthorne is so so bad these days, let him focus on hoops. And now instead of a former LSU national champion player doing color we have 2 play by play guys together who probably have never even played in a bambino baseball game.

Hawthorne had more trouble commentating that double play than Nola and Jones did of actually executing it

Can we get a cool "Walmart sucks/ I'll never shop there" thread on the OT to combat this one?

Jim Hawthorne is 87 years old. Let him be. He will be calling games for another 25 years per his contract. Deal with it ! Jimmy is good people.

Jim might be good people, but he has lost it as an announcer.
Listening to him makes my ears bleed.

Yeah, I actually don't think he is awful at basketball. Well, besides his old man bitching...

This +1000. Hanagriff is so much more baseball speed and its nice to have Coogan in there. I also really liked it when Canoveri did color with Hanny.

I actually heard Hawthorne pronounce "Massachusetts" as "Massa-two-sets" earlier.

You have got to be kidding! Did he really say this?

I might throw up if I hear "wee-KEND" again

Me and G both heard it and posted it at the same time during today's game thread. I still like JH and he kinda reminds me of John Ferguson when he started getting senile.

Guys really? Do we have to go through this every baseball season? Give it up. He has the job as long as he wants it. Not everyone thinks he's bad at it anyway. I happen to enjoy Hawthorne because I'm not sitting there keeping track of all his mistakes in a superior frame of mind. I just listen to enjoy the game.

Hawthornes problem is that he flat out just does not understand baseball well enough to be on the air. Not to mention that he consistently calls the wrong pitch and fails at describing the play correctly. It's really funny when you get to watch it on geaux zone and see how bad he really is

I think his major problem is his vision. I don't think he sees well enough to call baseball.
