Ignorance and irrational brand loyalty to something else.

In my experience, they seem to have a fear of water.

I have a SW Mercury and have zero complaints about it. It is a carbuerated 1998 150 hp. Always starts, alarm never goes off, always gets me home

They aren't a big fan of irony from what I hear.

And freshwater guys will say the same shite about Yamaha. I've never heard any sound reasoning against either one. I've heard of the same problems from both. And the same praises or both.

I honestly think guys just repeat what they hear and nobody even knows at this point.

I have wondered this as well....until about a year ago, I saw 4 300 Verados on the floor in a buddy's shop- they were almost new. He said they came off of 2 workboats and were already "burned up"....whatever that means.

Claimed the Yamaha reliability was much better in their application

It's the way of man. Whatever someone has is the best ever. Saltwater guys get suggestions from saltwater guys . Freshwater guys get suggestions from freshwater guys.
