Gulp Baits - Whats your Opinion?

Took some clients on a guided trip last summer and thats all the guide would use. They worked well but we were fishing the birds and catching 12 - 13 inch specs every 3rd cast. So my question is - Has anyone had any luck with them when you really had to fish hard?

I like to get the fish in a freenzy first with live shrimp then switch to gulp.

I buy when fishing for reds.

I like em a lot ( in my best dumb and dumber voice)

They can help in certain situations. They won't replace live bait though.

You dip other baits in the juice?
The problem i have with them is that i always have live bait and a box full regular plastics for when they're "on"

They're ok. It's not a bait a I have to have.

People in FL swear by the stuff. Especially for reds. You can work a gulp on a jighead through a grass flat and have both the scent of live bait (sort of anyway) and the particular action and ease of fishability of an artificial.
In open water, and if chasing specks under birds, I really don't see much of a place for them.

I fish with gulp chartreuse swimming mullet nearly every trip. Hit the reefs and catch trout then move to the marsh and catch flounder and reds without ever changing plastics

I like them for catching fish. what I don't like is how expensive they are and how the containers leak if they tip over.

2 summers ago I wore out the trout with Camo and Watermelon Jerk Shads. Very fun bait to fish with with great results.

I smash redfish on these, but don't like fishing trout with them. Trout always bite the tail off and I'm left with a little ball of plastic.

I really don't care for them. They really are stiff and don't have a great action to them. As far as smell, I really don't buy into that for saltwater fishing.

I witnessed yeti and another guy catch a decent mess of fish with these while I only caught one or two with my vudu shrimp. I literally put my bait in the exact same spot they were pulling the fish from, and they paid my vudu no mind.
