A younger friend of mine who I talked to the whole game last year (I think he was more upset than I was) died about a month ago at 28. I hope they have some pull up there.

Rest in peace young man. You have finished your race and showed us what true courage looks like.

At his age, he may not be that interested in an extension. He's not going to coach forever.

Is that Sid in the picture with leonard? If that is him that shows what a great person he is to go to Alabama and visit him. I hate cancer especially when someone young has it and nobody should go through that. I know Sid is in heaven and not suffering anymore looking down at his love ones. May he rest in peace and give his family strength.

Here's what Les said in his presser this afternoon:

Q. Tough loss for you and for your team in the off week with Sid Ortis passing away. Just your thoughts, what it's going to be like going into Alabama and him not being there on the sideline?
COACH LES MILES: Yeah. I was fortunate to meet Sid Ortis. His family knew that he was a great fan of LSU and reached out to Donnie Griffin, who was a pastor in the area, and I was able to make his acquaintance, and he had so much spirit and excitement and loves his Tigers. And I was really impressed by the representation that Alabama had back there. They supported him in every way, and we all will have our day, and he was with his mother and father and is in a better place. So I don't want to spend a lot of time on it, but I think about how fortunate that we are, that I am, that my family being healthy and being in position to continue. And Sid is in a better place.

I wonder if LSU will be permitted to wear the SID decal on their helmets Saturday night. Since it's a SEC game, probably not.

Me too. Such a touching story. When you think you have a hard time, think of the courage this young man found.

I am beyond sad right now. I just got back from spending the weekend with my mom and didn't see Sid posting on Twitter, so I checked here..and well, *sigh*

My thoughts and prayers go out to Sid's family; I know he is better now, but having lost a father and brother to cancer, I root even harder for people suffering from this awful disease and the family members who suffer with this feeling of helplessness and loss.

God Bless You Sid! Love you kid.

I guess that's Les-speak for "there but for the grace of God go I". I love it.

Sid Ortis was a remarkable young man who posessed great faith. Faith in his courage to face all the things that had come before him. He had faith in God to be with him till the end, then bring him home, and he had faith in his parents, and his family that they loved him and that they would be with him till the end.
And, Last, but not Least, he had faith that his favorite football team, the LSU Football team he loved so much would win a national championship this year, and as they held it high, it be to show it to Sid, saying we did it our friend.

When I read about Sid or his name was mentioned, I felt the presence of God. The courage of Sid in ultimate extreme adversity was amazing.

To Sid's parents, I understand there must be a void of his physical presence, but my prayer is that, though the physical presence of Sid cannot be replaced, the memories of the courage and spirit that was and is Sid will in some way help to fill that void.

God blessed your lives with the special gift of Sid. May you cherish the memories of Sid and spirit with which he lived his life.

My prayer is that Sid's loved ones will seek and God will grant understanding, comfort and peace and that He will enrich your lives through the life of Sid.

The Progressive atheists who think God and faith should never be mentioned. Yet another group that wants you to be tolerant of their views while they do not tolerate yours.

God Bless You Sid! I hope you have the best seat in the house this weekend.
